Realistic river

Hy. First of all i'm new and want to say hy...
With what to (and how to) make a (realistic) river that flow and then flows into lake?
I don't wont to use external programs and plug-ins for maya, just Maya Unlimited.
Is it better to do it with "fluid container with emiter", or with "particles and curve flow" or something else or combination...
What about texture...
Is there some tutorial for this...

Give me some opinion...

Thanks :p

why not just try both and see which looks better?

What did you ever decide on this? I'm trying the same thing.

Yes i forgot to reply....

I decided to go for particles because i have much larger control, and results are better.
Results by using Fluid effects are more like glue effect than water.

For particles you can use surface flow or curve flow, but i didn't use any of it i control emiter with forces and make collision with object because i was simulating water stream thru canal.

i can post some pictures if somebody is interested..

;)
