I think Im gonna try for my first challenge. I keep thinking of those large elephant things in 2 towers. Im kinda altering that idea into War Giraffes. Hope it works.

Ive got some gangly legs (which i know need work) and a head slapped on. Im intending on draping a large cloth over his back then covering him with armor plating so I think Im gonna keep his body detail to a minimum so i dont need to do even more work

kiwi00272 06-01-2003 06:19 PM

I slapped on some legs, a saddle, and some knobs on the head. I realise that the legs are a bit off where they connect to the body. I intend to cover them with a large cape type thing being draped over it. I f anyone knows an easy or effective way to do this please let me know. Every time i throw a cloth object over him it always stops before the body:confused: . Let me know what you think. Thanks

cloth is initially set up so it works with real size. that means that one maya unit is on cm. this would mean that you either blow up the monster to real size - if it is about 5 meter high it had to be 500 units. if you dont want to model in real size, then you can adjust the solver scale to 15+ or so - and the cloth will behave like cloth that is 15 times as big. then you have in the collision object values that say how close the cloth can come the the sbject. initially they are set to 1 (unit). if you model in small size, then a value of .1 works real good. but then you might discover that the cloth goes through the object - if that happen you need to increase the base resolutionto something bigger (500 or more).

hope that solves your cloth problems

I tried the cloth stuff you mentioned, but nothing seemed to work, so i just duplicated his body and altered the duplicate to give the apperance of a molded cloth. Hes now got neck armor on front and back as well as an attempt to texture everything.
