Rendering question

I have a question about batch rendering. I bought the Maya Fundamentals book, which is great so far BTW, and have just finished the first project. They make what seems to be good sense when they say to render your animation to sequential images rather than a movie file, in case your machine blows up in the middle etc. My question is what do you use to turn those images into an mpeg or avi? Is WinXP's moviemaker good enough or is there some freeware or plug-in? Sorry, but I'm a bit of a newbie  . Thanks in advance!

i dnt think moviemaker will do it, but editing and compositing programs shud work (premiere, combustion, after effects) there are some free programs somewhere on the net that will put ur images together

I think Videomach will do that...

here's a link:

It's free.

Thanks Nem and Hidalgo,
I'll look into that VideoMach and see if it fits the bill. I especially like the free part! Hey Hidalgo, did I see in another thread that you're into the Martial Arts? If so, what style? (just curious)

I teach kenpo, brazilian jiu-jitsu and arnis. I have a school here in Idaho.

Very cool, I'm a 2nd Dan in Tae Kwon Do and teach here in MN. Would that be Gracie Jiu-Jitsu by any chance? I've always found that fighting style interesting. My cousin's daughter is a 2nd degree black belt in Kenpo in New England. She really likes all the weapon styles. Fun stuff!

Hidalgo 20-02-2003 05:27 PM

Yep, that's Gracie jiu-jitsu under Rickson Gracie's line.

Kenpo is very cool! I work with several police officers in the area and use a combination of the kenpo, ground fighting and the stick fighting (arnis) to incorporate moves into what they do. The mix of kenpo and brazilian jiu-jitsu seems to be a fantastic combination.

I also do women's self-defense awareness and rape prevention seminars for local church groups about once or twice a year.

I have a friend in Connecticut that runs a school under Steve DeMasco's United Studios. They do a form of Shaolin Kempo. IS that similar to the system your cousin's daughter studies?

Ok...done rambling. If I get started it's hard to get me to stop.

Later!

Heh, no problem. Going off on tangents is one of my favorite things! The school she goes to is located in Dover, NH. I don't know what the affiliation is though. Does Kenpo normally include what most people consider Kung-Fu weapon styles? Well, most people like me who don't know any better anyways.

Okay, sorry, back to Maya stuff. I promise.
