When do you think computers would be able simulate entire worlds in intricate detail... like in the Matrix or Avalon?

That's some pretty sweet stuff.

I know that Halo 3 used some aspects of RT'ing, but that's been done for a while now...

Eventually we'll be able to simulate global illumination in real-time, as comps get faster and new techniques for photon mapping appear.
