Trojan.ByteVerify

Has anyone seen this or gotten it recently. And if so, have you had any luck removing it?

Seems I followed a bad link and was handed the trojan. Now, whenever I reboot, or sometimes just for the hell of it, I get a bunch of porn links in my favorites forlder and my homepage resets to some search page. HELP!

I've tried everything that Symantec suggests I do to remove it but with no luck. Two main files that keep appearing are counter[1].jar and VerifierBug.class. These normally show up in the C:/Documents and Settings/Administrator/Local Settings/Temporary Internet Files/Content.IE5/*folder*. It's obviously set itself a nice cozy place in my boot sector, cause it happens especially when I reboot. Its not being malicious, however, the wife is a bit peeved at me for the pr0n links. :p

Anyone got any ideas?

Uninstall IE. Delete all IE files. Check the registry for any new entries. Use any new entries to find hidden trotian files. Check your start up folder for any new proggies you didnt put in there. Then use www.pestscan.com to look for anything.

If that doesnt do it, you have a problem my friend.

Have a look at the MS site if you happen to be using XP before you contemplate uninstalling IE, or you are in for a world of hurt 8).

Ultragames: The only uninstall I see for IE is the Service pack.
