Nurbs sphere/trim/vertex delete?

If you make a nurbs sphere. Then delete half the sphere by projecting a curve on it.
Now you are left with half a sphere.
When you press F8 to see the "control vertex" The "control vertex are on the deleted part of the sphere as well. How can I delete them?

you cant, thats the mystery of the trims i tell everyone that wants to hear like a madman... you can select a isoparm, move it to position, and detach in two surfaces and then tweack, but trims... are bad...

Excellent. I was thinking there must be a way. Thanks for confirming that I was on to a wild goose chase :-)
Yes you are right about isoparm.

FYI
A NURBS trim does'nt actually delete any part of the surface
it only tellls maya not to render that part, and actually takes longer to calculate.

It works pretty good if you have an odd shape or hole
to trim out of a nurbs surface.
but if you can do like dragon fx said and detach and delete
