Rubiks Cube question

Hello.

This may be a no brainer for most. I've been out of the loop with Maya for about 2 years and I'm refreshing my skills and have run into a challenge.

I'm animating a rubiks cube and all is well as far as rotating faces. My question is when I want to rotate a face to a specific value i.e. 180 degrees, I will go into the "transform attributes" section and key in "180" for the "Y" axis. I notice that the only part of that face that rotates to 180 is just 1 of the 9 cubes! Why will not all 9 rotate to that value?

I'm most likely overlooking something very simple but don't see what that is.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

you will need to group the faces and rotate the group, but thinking about it this might not work since each face would have to be a member of at least two groups to simulate a Rubics cube movement.
scripting would be the way to go ... heres a solution ;)
