Operating System

For Maya 4.0:

I am getting a PC which has Windows XP (Home Edition) on it. I have a copy of WIN2k Professional. What I want to know is:

1) Will Windows XP (Home Ed.) suffice?
2) Is it really worth upgrading to XP Pro. or is WIN2K Pro better?

Any advice appreciated,

Cheers.

Jasi :)

I'm using XP Pro.... I'm not sure if it matters or not, as I've not used Home edition.

Hmm...If I recall right, XP home edition doesn't support multiprocessor systems. Not sure tho...

Win2K here -> no problems...

xp home will do just fine.... but the only downside is.. no networking... and W2KPro, i heard, is more stable... fewer crashes, lesser hiccups if you are own a slower machine... since you are getting a new one.. i say stick with home
