Maya uv question.

Hi. I have a question on uv's, layouts and seams. I'm not new to Maya but fairly new to uving. I'm attempting a tire (a slick to be exact) and I'm having problems with the seams. I did a cylindrical projection on it but I have no clue if I need to unwrap it if that's even the correct term, so I can hide the seams. I'm texturing in Substance Painter with all maps including an I.D. map. Could someone help or tell me the correct uv procedure to hide the seams on the sidewalls? Could I just planar it from multiple axis but how would I stich it to hide seams even?

Figured it out. Seamed it on the reverse side.
