Smooth Model

Pls. I have a problem I downloaded a model and when opened it in maya it came out fine but the model looks "BOXY" the polygons are already very high how can i make the model smoother and with less polygons

edit polygons>normals>soften/harden>Optionbox
then drag it to 180 or click all soft :)
