that's nice! I'd say whatever you used in your first post for textures, you should stick with it, 'cause that's a wonderful start! I'd suggest you add a metal ring on the top and bottom of the chainlink-type railing, because right now it doesn't seem supported.

Cheers

dragonsfire 05-03-2004 07:12 PM

Very Nice :)

MainlineX 05-03-2004 11:55 PM

Nice work! keep it up!

Ankalagon 06-03-2004 12:11 AM

Wou hou i am just making my post number with post like this, give guy some C&C, doo this, change that and stuff, that is use of sites like this and forums like this!!!!

roach105 06-03-2004 12:42 AM

The fence texture is not working properly I got to check it out. I think I have it reversed because it is not suppost to be transparent at the bottom of it. thanks for the reply's guys.

the brick at the moment is procedural. It is bumped but I may need to crtete a disclplacement because the brick seems to go flat sometimes.

kbrown 06-03-2004 01:29 AM

Ah... lighthouses always gives me the shivers :) Good start :)

Pony 06-03-2004 06:27 AM

nice start. seeing it by some rocks and ocean would really be good next. Its difrent and thats good. I don't think I have sean one done in 3d yet.

roach105 06-03-2004 10:30 PM

small texture test.

kbrown 07-03-2004 05:23 AM

Lovely textures! The model is a bit boxy though...

roach105 07-03-2004 07:38 AM

hey kbrown, do you mean that the corners are to sharp or the complete house is just square?

Ankalagon 07-03-2004 09:59 AM

Wery nice textur, I also think that house is too boxy, but its just the house witch are just too boxy, :) nice job

I meant the corners. They're too sharp and straight imho. Of course it all depends how far away this building will be in the final shot...

small update

Ankalagon 08-03-2004 05:28 PM

Wery nice will you make scene, make some coast with ocean!!! :)

roach105 08-03-2004 05:38 PM

that is the plane. will be on a coast. scene will be a sunset type with gof and some stuuf like that.

Jflores 08-03-2004 08:01 PM

Here is a tip, In real life you never seen thigns too brightly lit. My advice here is that you use spot lights to create a negative intensity on the edges to make it appear less boxy. Textures add depth to the most flat geometry so keep that in mind. Link your lights always, label them.

strobe7 08-03-2004 08:30 PM

It feels top-heavy. I think the balcony is too deep.

Jflores 08-03-2004 08:36 PM

I like the artistic aspect in my opinion, the textures are well done. The Tower might need more complexity in my opinion like windows. A blowing flag maybe some stairs going around the balcony would look nice.

Ankalagon 08-03-2004 08:54 PM

Whell there could bee some stairs but some kind of fire emergenci stairs, but the main stairs are inside of lightning towr!! I realy like jour texturs and whole model!! Kep it up

roach105 08-03-2004 09:01 PM

thanks for the crits guys. the lighthouse does seem like it has something missing. I will try to add a window or two. Also after looking at the top of it it does look a bit top heavy with the huge balcony. I will try to ring it in a bit.

Ankalagon 08-03-2004 09:31 PM

Jea the windows will work good , to make your lightning house more interesting!!!

another small update. added windows as recommended and also made the top end of lighthouse smaller.

anyone have any ideas for environment foggy, morning, night evening, etc.

Ankalagon 09-03-2004 06:01 PM

Thats what i was talking abouth, wery nice, more details please!!! And more renders posted please :)

Clod 09-03-2004 06:19 PM

Very nice texturing. What about turning the light on and shining it out over a foggy sea? You could make the light cone visible in the fog.

roach105 09-03-2004 06:25 PM

I will be turning on the lights soon

Ankalagon 09-03-2004 09:08 PM

Weary nice idea Clod, make the mistical ,scary fog around the ligh tower!!! Whaiting for new renders!!!

another render. Im not that good using light fogs. can anyone give tips on how to get the edges more gradient.

Pony 12-03-2004 07:18 AM

now thats getting some whare nice. Looking better and better all the time.

roach105 12-03-2004 01:57 PM

thanks pony. I am now trying to figure out the fog using Mental Ray shaders. I got it working just need to adjust setting a bit. I also get a few crashes when I go to render. It might be to much for my machine.

rich 12-03-2004 02:09 PM

Is that Paint-FX grass on the hill and a texture on the distant hills?

roach105 12-03-2004 02:19 PM

yup! I am eventually going to darken the background a bit more.

Clod 16-03-2004 10:31 PM

Looks cool.

roach105 17-03-2004 03:08 AM

future, not sure. I can always apply it to something later on. for now makes a great desktop background. Thanks for the feedback

Spyd03 17-03-2004 01:37 PM

Great work!!!! I love it! My wife and I went to St. Augustine FL. when we lived in Orlando, and we went to see the haunted lighthouses there!! Very Creepy! You did a great job with this so far!!!

Sil-Valeor 18-03-2004 08:41 PM
