Looks great!! :)

ransick 23-04-2004 09:12 PM

(goldenrule:PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!)
...that's the way I learned how to play the stratocaster...
...so now the next step.... learn how to MAKE a stratocaster...
...I guess the golden rule also counts for my next step...;)

Real damn GOOD job man! I envie you!
I'd love to see some texture on it!
do you play guitar ?

vladimirjp 24-04-2004 03:46 AM

no i don't play....
i wish i had some kind of musical talent....:( :( damn!

Ankalagon 24-04-2004 09:02 AM

You don`t need talent bud you only need to practise, but you can`t be good in everything :) you are just ment to be a 3d modeler and that`s enough :)

DrRobotnik 24-04-2004 09:05 PM

You dont even need much practice to play, I got my mate playing in a few hours while getting drunk! The next day he went out and got himself a guitar and amp and hasn't looked back since.

Maya on the other hand is a different story!!! God I need alot of practice!!:(

Ankalagon 24-04-2004 10:57 PM

@ DrRobotnik:
We all need to practise a lot, but it`s not so hard when you practise and make something nice, the begining is the difficult for all of as!! Keep fighting mate

ransick 25-04-2004 05:05 PM

as long as your having fun.. practice is a piece of cake! and that's the real hard part... I just love to model..but if something isn't going the way I planed...It's a strugle to get back on your feed and go on.... But hej... that's why I come back to SM.com everyday.... The people here show me what it's all about...

HAVING FUN!!

I must say: Your Damn fine stratocaster is a real inspiration for me! keep up the good work, mate!

vladimirjp 26-04-2004 07:22 PM

lonepig 27-04-2004 06:48 AM

Speechless.

ransick 27-04-2004 10:50 AM

texture is just fine! alltough I would do something special with the lightning/bg.. to blast the stratocaster trough my lcd screen! ;)

Alan 27-04-2004 10:54 AM

the wood is too reflective, see where the chrome bridge is reflecting in the wood, it's too clean and too much. Tone that down a bit.

Alan

I-Iybrid 27-04-2004 02:32 PM

From that view/angle, the neck isnt long enough. Other than what Pure said, nice job.

vladimirjp 27-04-2004 08:33 PM

hope u like...

this is the final composition....
not great, but good enough.

Rocks!

NitroLiq 28-04-2004 01:15 AM

Nice work but a couple of things - the tone/vol knobs are too small and if I remember correctly, the lettering on the knobs are black or gray. Also, you might want to work with the white shader a bit more for the pick guard/knobs. It's blown out and not reflective enough. Pickguard shouldn't be as thick as you've made it, either with the big beveled edge. Keep on tweaking. :)

thnx for the conmstructive c&c Nitro

but unfortunately i known nothing about guitar, i.e. guard knobs, or pickguard... i would tweak i don''t know what they r :( :(
i used a bunch of ref pick on google to model after, ...
so it's has many different flavors!
maybe just circle what needs to be changed, then i will try to tweak.

vladimirjp 28-04-2004 01:47 AM

DanaScully 28-04-2004 05:37 AM

the model looks great dude.
The only thing i would say is make the pickguard a tad more defined. (The pic guard is that white plate on the face of the guitar.)

Ankalagon 28-04-2004 06:56 AM

Man your texting is just too good, are you self tesched or you have studyed some school

Zyk0tiK 28-04-2004 12:07 PM

it look goooood, however the dials are still tiny as hell.

ransick 28-04-2004 12:18 PM

I simply love IT! :D

Okay. The pickguard is the large white area where the pickups, knobs, and toggle switch lie, on the body. It should be be nearly flat, maybe raised a few mm. I bet if you do a little more research on strats, you can find measurements and profile views of everything. The 3 knobs still need to be larger (their bases flare out more). You might also want to to lower the magnets on the pickups in the center of the body (the magnets would be the 6 gray cylinders sticking up out of the three white pill shapes in the center of the body, where the strings pass over). They usually don't stick up so high. One last thing is that you might want to look to tone down the glossiness a tad bit on the body as yours is a little bit more than it actually would be.

You're almost there. Here's another reference link you might want to check out. It's a lefty strat but has some good up-close images:

vladimirjp 29-04-2004 03:33 PM

i'm happy with this render.

i changed a few things. reflection is better, the knobs are bigger the pick guard is smaller

http://www.geocities.com/vladimirjp/...inalRender.txt

NitroLiq 29-04-2004 03:46 PM

Knob flares still need to be scaled out a little more. The pickguard still looks uneven and the scres in it look like they're not consistent 9some look like they're half on the pckguard/half on the body). Was this a quick render? Why is everything so blocky?

Keep at it. Don't quit on it now.

Look at the pickguard/knobs on this example.

Ankalagon 29-04-2004 09:06 PM

Don`t you dare oo quit now vladimir, and try to smooth you strat a bit think that reflection will not be so blocky!! Coming up greate!!

vladimirjp 29-04-2004 10:26 PM

i don't see what you guys mean by "blocky"
if the highlights look the way they do, it's not because the strat is not smooth enough. it's simply the lighing that has it look that way. i have many primitives that reflect lights and it is an hdri render. so i am very happy with this look ! i don't think it needs anymore fine tunning. thanx for C&C
