the smoothed body:

any tipps for details ? would be very happy....my dragon looks so neckid lol.......and thin....need to tweak that....

so plz tips for details!!!!

cb8rwh 05-07-2004 06:48 PM

hey dragon - looking really good matey.

If you wanna thicken parts up - select the verts of the area and apply a lattice deformer - then just scale the lattice points up or move them around to suit.

Think you need to thicken the belly(stomach) area of the dragon

really like the claws!!!

vladimirjp 05-07-2004 10:48 PM

find as much refs as u can from google then work on the proportions before you begin to add finer details.

Co0KiEmAn 06-07-2004 03:00 PM

I would start by increasing the size on the tale...to counterbalance that long steve-lowish neck. It looks like a good start.

i smoothed the dragon and put it onto a plane....c&c plz!!!

and here is the unsmoothed version....

Dragonhawk 06-07-2004 07:38 PM

i will generally create the dragon more fat especially the neck and where it begins...then i will add the wings.....c&c plz

ransick 06-07-2004 08:11 PM

hmm putting him on a plane doesn't do the job! show us some real updates...you have enough c & c now to do some updating I think.... Like you are saying...the dragon needs to start eating and doing some pushups..

btw...what's that weird looking think between his backlegs ?
hope to see some good update...

I like the first two images, they remind me of chinese dragons, just the proportions need some work, delete the hip bone thingy between its legs, and try and keep him lean and slender.

dae

Dragonhawk 07-07-2004 03:52 PM

The bone was refering to the dinosaur bone....google on the net for dinosaur and look between the legs ( ) and then u ll understand...but okay ill delete it....and i will make the legs more smoothed on the body and less so wrong positioned....

vladimirjp 07-07-2004 04:27 PM

well, u need to finalize al modeling b4 u can rig. this model is not complete.
Martin, u always ask for C&C but u never take the advice! :( work on the proportion, add some finer details add some wings, then UV him and texture, then rig him

Not bad so far, but I do have a little advice for you. First off, the first dragon you posted was more slankish and it made it appear more lizard-like. I could have imagined it crawling on all fours than standing up! :) Kind of reminds me of the body of the dragons I drew in Photoshop once...the second one's stature resembles more of that of a dinosaur. If you want to go with more of the erect look (as you tried in the second group of postings), maybe try thickening the legs...it all just depends on what kind of look you are going for. Maybe I'll post an image of the dragon I did in Photoshop to get you an idea of what I mean.

Dragonhawk 08-07-2004 12:32 PM

i want to achieve a body shown in your image. It shall look very similar....just a bit longer....i wanted more an elegant dragon who bends slowlywhen it turns to the right or so.......image posts will follow in ca. 1.5h ...

Yes, I know what Dragonhawk is referring to...I think it is an extrusion of the hip-bone, which is seen a lot on the more bird-like dinosaurs such as velociraptor and such. It is not a "weiner," just a bone structure in a lot of those sorts of dinosaurs. Kind of like the Velociraptor image I am going to post (please note: this is an old image I made in MSPaint, so don't criticize me too much, since I have improved TONS since then! :p )

Yeah, I think I know what kind of look you are going for Dragonhawk...if you want it to be a more elegant dragon, then maybe try arching the back and have it standing on 4 legs, as the dragon that I posted was. It was just a thought. Also, the knees looked a little off to me...the rear legs look WAY too flexible. Maybe try toning that a little more. Hope this helps some! ;)

Zyk0tiK 08-07-2004 05:52 PM

Hah the dragon has a penis! :D! frikkin awesome! :)

NextDesign 08-07-2004 10:42 PM

Yuck dude. :p Anyway great work man! Keep it up!

ransick 09-07-2004 06:26 AM

lol.....where is this going ?
:surprised

CGPMaya84 10-07-2004 02:54 AM

Uhhhh....I don't think I want to know.... It all started when someone was wondering what that extrusion was between the dragon's legs....then somebody took it for a "weiner," and I said what it really was, but people are still taking the "weiner" assumptions....*rolls eyes* Some men............. Lol, just kidding guys! ;)

IAmThaGuvNa 10-07-2004 03:05 AM

why cant we say penis? CGP? you have problems saying penis? hahahaha i agree i think it is an extrusion from the pelvis (not a penis)

CGPMaya84 10-07-2004 03:22 AM

No, there is nothing wrong with you guys saying "penis." I was not saying that. I was just saying that I am not really that surprised that you guys are joking about stuff like that. I was just joking around anyway, I personally don't really care if you guys say the word "penis." It is just my weird sense of humor, lol. ;) You guys can talk about all the "penises" you want...lol!! Yeah, it is definately an extrusion of the pelvis bone though. I have seen that on a lot of dinosaurs like Velociraptors, and Dragonhawk said himself it was caused by a type of dinosaur bone.

IAmThaGuvNa 10-07-2004 03:53 AM

"I have seen that on a lot of dinosaurs"
WOAH! I WANNA SEE A DINOSAUR! lol :) I know what you mean... when i was little i went to all these like.. dinosaur places and i got to look at real fossils and i remember those little... protrusions :)

CGPMaya84 10-07-2004 04:26 AM

Lol!!! Yeah, well I used to have this obsession with dinosaurs when I was younger...I did a lot of research on velociraptors and stuff back then. I even had one of those build-it-yourself dinosaur bone kits made of wood for a velociraptor, lol!!! I think the original Jurrasic Park and the second one (The Lost World) made me so obsessed with them, lol! ;) When I was in high school...I built a large, life-sized model of a velociraptor out of chicken wire, wood, and then covered it with plaster strips...it just shows how much I liked dinosaurs then, lol!!!!!!

and the wingholders...

CGPMaya84 11-07-2004 12:37 AM

Ehehe, sorry about that Dragonhawk, I guess we got a little carried away on that whole issue.... :( Anyway, the dragon is beginning to look a lot better in my opinion! I like how the body is a little stockier, since now it does not look as emaciated as it did before. It is really beginning to come along! ;) Also, in my opinion the wings look a little too rounded...maybe try making them resemble more like bat wings or something, since dragon wings usually resemble those of a bat's anyway. Also, this is just a thought, it is entirely up to you...but I think it would look pretty neat if you had rows of spike-like things coming out slantways on the top of the dragon's neck extending on its back and to its tail...it's kind of hard to explain, but I will maybe try posting something later with a quick sketch overtop of your dragon to show you what I mean. Keep up the great work though! :D

Hi again Dragonhawk. I decided to post a quick drawing of a dragon wing I did in paint with cell shading. Hehe, don't mind my sloppiness, since I did it rather quickly ...:bored: but maybe it will help you create the dragon wings. ;)

And here is a pic of the dragon with the "spines" I was referring to...it is entirely up to you if you want to do it or not.

Dragonhawk 11-07-2004 11:31 AM

wow yeah i need kind of these detail! i will tweak the wing and add these spikes! pics will follow today!! someone know what other detail could i attach to the dragon?it still look so neckid with that spikes....but better than before...thx cgp !!

You're welcome Dragonhawk, I am glad that I could be of some help for you! ;) I am also glad to hear that you took my idea for the spikes! It really looks awesome on your dragon so far! Also, as far as the webbing for the wings goes, maybe try extending the webbing towards where it nears the dragon's body and have the webbing attach to the body itself, if you know what I mean. Let me know if you want me to paint in what I am talking about. Keep up the great work on that dragon so far though! If I can think of anything else for you to improve it, I will let you know! :)

Dragonhawk 12-07-2004 01:14 PM

ehh....well....i would be happy if you paint it :)-.....cause at the moment i have no clue about what you mean....lol....and plz no conversation about the already deleted bone between the legs okay?just stop talking about that crap....

blomkaal 12-07-2004 01:47 PM

Make the skin of the wings grow onto the body and not just the wings...

Ok Dragonhawk, here is the pic of the extending of the dragon's wings to the body I was talking about. I hope this clarifies what I am trying to say. :) Keep up the good work on the dragon, by the way! :D

Dragonhawk 12-07-2004 07:42 PM

well here i attached the wings a bit more to the body but bnow they cant be so close as on the pic caused by the spikes going along the body...what else could i add for detail? and cgp: do u have icq msn or so? let me now ur ID there....

Still looks a bit off to me, I'd say loose a couple of the spikes and attach the skin between the wing bones (?) to the body as CGPMaya84 said...

Also, I think you might have overkilled the spikes a bit... I think you should try to make them a bit more "random", maybe by removing some of them and adding them with som different intervals (different and more random spacing between them, if you know what I mean)
