No ideas yet but I'm just showing my interest.

My creature is the only dino ever to excist with no eyes.
Can you "see" where I am going with this yet?.

Over time, this creature has evolved into a bat like dinosaurs with large ears that can receive sonar waves which are sent from a dome on the creatures forehead.

The name of the dinosaurs is, Doyouthinkhesawus (Ha Ha Ha!).

But I wanted my dino to be blind. As far as I know there was never a blind dinosaur.

A little late but here is my first model for this comp.

The front legs/arms/wings will be next. I'm going to base them on the wings of a bat...

Tim_LIVID: Not planning to animate because the comp rules are just to model and texture. Would be nice to do if I find the time.

I've never entered a comp before so im not to hot on the rules. It might look quite groovie animated though :D

Grovy body there for it. I like much. The feet are just as distintive as the head. Loveing it.

The arms need a lot more work but here is my progress so far.

The front arms/supporting legs should look more like the wings of a bat.

Looks nice, although I think its gonna need bigger wings to be able to fly.

He can't fly, he uses his very strong back legs to jump and then the wings just help him glide and land softly.

Hope you get around to texturing him as I would really like to see him finished.

I'm happy with the shape and size of the wings now.

Next I need to attach the wings to the body and then get some detail into the model before I start to texture.

I am very new to UVs and texturing so wish me luck.

The wings are now attached to the body and I've also created some skin details and grooves.

God UVs take a long time!
I still have some UV tweaking before I start to paint the textures.

I can't render with Mental Ray because Maya keeps complaining about 5 sided polys. Is there an easy way of finding that little 5 sided git?

nice and clean, just add some colour and your dino will start to come to life :D

Looks great. Maybe you could get them a little closer befor genirating the UV snapshot. But like demon said. Just add color.. *S*

Layed down some basic colour and a bit of bump too.
I also added a transparent map too.

Loads of detail to play with but I think I'm doing ok.
