Game art, game art, game art!! How I love you so.

Hmmm now onto the first hurdle... what to make. First Idea would be Igor, partner of Igoretta, and mabe his faithful dog? Hmm needs some further thought.

lonepig 02-12-2004 06:18 PM

Well change of plan, whilst at work contempating my the world of 3d I had a change of heart. I was thinking about the space opera challange over on CGtalk whilst listening to Jamiroquie.... Return of the space cowboy.... The grand old space opera.... hmmm

Return of the Cowgirl to the Grand Ole Space Opry!!! :D:D

Concepts to follow.

brentlydavis 02-12-2004 07:36 PM

Sounds really interesting. Good luck putting it together.

Well i've finally started work modelling. Starting with the horsey. Aim to to keep it around the 1k poly mark.

Bit more work done, legs added. Not sure of I'm going to keep the hydraulics as they eat polys. But I do thiink they look good.

Well here's a almost finished horse. just needs a bit of tweeking and a few polys for the mane, alpha mapped, and it should be just about there.

Next the saddle, then the cowgirl herself.

Thanks for the comments Mike and RC. A quick sketch of the cowgirl. More detail will be added later, when I see how many polys I have left to play with.

Slight change in the cowgirl. I stumbled across a website by Al Howe whilst looking for ref images of astronuat clothing. Just love his work. So shes been change after looking thought his pieces.

His website is http://www.webdragon.com , warning some of the images contain nudity.

vladimirjp 19-12-2004 02:51 PM

DDD cups :D :) :)

nice proportions

good poly management. u have much detail on the horse with so little geometry

lonepig 19-12-2004 03:08 PM

Thanks Vlad, I am rather please with how the horse has turned out so far. I'm hoping to add more detail with the texturing.

Thanks RC, i'll do my best.

Have made the visor element. I'm not 100% on the visor shape thou.

lonepig 02-01-2005 02:14 PM

Well i'm back from my hols and back into things a bit. Just a update shot. I'm a bit overbudget with the polys so I need to trim things down a bit. And I still need to add a few extra items, pistol, lasso etc.

lonepig 03-01-2005 11:10 AM

Working on the hair now. I'm having a bit of bother deciding on the best look. I've done full hair, hair skinhead and am thinking about pigtails as well..... Its all to much for my poor little brain.....

blomkaal 03-01-2005 03:49 PM

Keep up the good work Mr. Piggy :)

Hiraghm 11-01-2005 09:56 PM

lonepig, I too am amazed at how much detail you get from so few polys!

btw, I recall "lonepig" as a character from Robert A. Heinlein's book "Universe"...
And is that penguin your model? Have you other renderings of it? I think it would make a fantastic Linux mascot.

lonepig 15-01-2005 06:32 PM

Thanks Blomkall and Hiraghm. I've not been able to do much for a while as my girlfriend was involved in a minor car crash. She's not hurt but it shook me up a bit.

Currently trying to UV the sucker.

lonepig 17-01-2005 09:42 AM

Well things are going slowly, as UVing usuall does for me. Here the horse mostly done.

comments and crits on mapping would be very useful thanks.

lonepig 17-01-2005 01:04 PM

Phew!! Well thats horsey UV'd, now on to the little lady.

mtmckinley 17-01-2005 01:48 PM

nice job!

lonepig 17-01-2005 06:47 PM

I'm trying to play around with normal mapping.
I've got my lowpoly and hipoly meshes but when I try to transfer surface info ( options tab ) I get a error, ( Error: Value is out of range: 0 ).

What am I doing wrong?

AlphaFlyte 22-01-2005 09:46 AM

Can't help you with normal mapping coz there's been no time to delve into that. Honest and brutal truth is "I know nothing, I'm from Barcelona". Eagerly awaiting Mikes tutorial.

Horse is class though, and I have a feeling you will be able to reuse that model (with slight modifications depending on your needs of course) many times. Good job on the UV mapping.

lonepig 23-01-2005 03:12 PM

Thanks AlphaFlyte and a big YIPPEE as Mike is uping his normal mapping tut tonight.

Getting on with the cowgirl uv map. Basic layout getting there just needs a bit of tweaking to make painting it a bit easier.
