it's definitely looking very nice. Couple things I noticed:
the main cylinder portion looks like it should be bigger around, from what I see in your first reference pics, especially when you look at the side pic. http://www.forum.simplymaya.com/atta...&postid=173816 Also, while most of the gray bits are all the same color, they do look like they have varying specular properties (the wires compared to the main vacuum surface, for example). The orange, clear bits also look like they should have a stronger orange color to them. Excellent work! |
cheers Mike thats just what i needed. You kinda become blind after studying it for so long. and somethimes need outside help.I see what you mean on all comments ima get straight to it.
N thanks for the compliments.! ;) |
With your last enviorment render, I noticed some shadow artifacting in the corners of the wall by the door. Are you using a dirtmap shader, or do you have a high light radius value set on your ray tracing?
Your floor molding should meet together at the corners, and you might want to change the displacement map on the floor. Of course these are suggestions, the over all work is looking top notch. |
The only thing that really jumps out in the scene as bad/unusual are the floor grooves. I dont think it looks right split up and if it was like that then the sheen around them would wear out fast. There'd also be dirt and stuff down it. If it was a laminate/real wooden floor then the joins would be far tighter.
Other than that this is looking great and could compete in the normals category  |
k thanks for the help no work today so have some time to really get those problems solved. its hard when i have to wait so long for a render!
(once i have my mental ray problem solved)its stopped working! i posted in tech issues if u wanna have a look. t1ck really nice coment on competing in the normals cat. but i really am a noob maybe just lucky on how this has turned out. 8 weeks is how long i have been using maya or any other modeling software. So when ya say things like that it really makes me think i could one day be good at this! thanks.!!!! |
Here's a better version, the colour seems more realistic here.
no other updates here yet though. Heres the link! stopped the link flare thing didnt go down too well  |
hmmm, if you want to put the flare, i think you should show the sun also, cuz the flare doesnt show where its comming from
