Something I started working on last friday, I am further along and have done some serious rework on the engines, basically making each of the engines twice as long. Let me know what you think,
this is for a short animation involving matchmoving, trying to make it fly down the highway,I am doing this for a project for compositing class, take a look at

http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26783

for alot more pics. Please let me know if you ahve any ideas or sugestions...
Thanks,
Brian

adldesigner 05-11-2002 07:27 PM

Lol, that seems powerfull enough!,
..what do you guys say?

undseth 06-11-2002 03:16 PM

I'd like to see a "cinematic-movie" with this model.

...Look! The exhaust pipes are glowing-hot.

THanks,

WHen it lands the props are going to be able to rotate in so that they will clear the ground when it is slowing down...

this is an animation playblast of the set driven key that I have set up for my props. What do you think? Not sure if I even want to use this yet becaues the engine looks kind of wierd with it pointing out... Let me know if you think the idea of having the ability to make the props fold in for landing is good or bad. I slowed down the spining so you could see it better. THanks,
Brian

adldesigner 06-11-2002 05:12 PM

That looks great! I mean I´m not even sure if it´s possible aerodynamically, but it sure would look good. You could even use the Nurbs plane your using as ground when working with LIVE, and setup an expression that regulated this folding. Whenever the prop´s holder get´s near the ground they fold proportionally. (Use the Y axis for this)

brian_ellebracht 06-11-2002 05:15 PM

Yeah, aerodynamically I don't think it would work either, but Thats a great idea as far as making the contraction be controlled by the elevation off of the ground. I will definetly do that, so that when the pod is bouncing around and stuff, it will automatically adjust. Thanks for the idea.

THought that if it was white it would show the geometry better. Let me know what you think, I think the colors really take away from it. Grr.... let me knwo if you have any ideas. THanks Brian

Oculus 06-11-2002 06:05 PM

Damn... thats lookin really cool! Great detail.

Ha thats funny, I have some really good sound effects of him screaming, so you can hear him scream as he flys by. Here he is on the bike

brian_ellebracht 06-11-2002 08:12 PM

I am going to make him hunched over and stuff, but I still need to work on my skin weights some more before i can do that. THanks,
Brian

adldesigner 06-11-2002 08:18 PM

LoL! That clip will be hilarious! I can imagine that!

Last one today, I really need your help let me know if it is better or worse with the coil overs, looks kind of bulky to me, I am just about to say this model os complete.
Thanks Brian

adldesigner 07-11-2002 01:40 AM

I´d say it does look a bit bulky, takes out all the fly-ability look it had ... however if you feel comfortable with it, then let it then. It´s actually a great piece of work so it shouldn´t matter that much anymore. (Besides you always need some coil on the landing gear right? or is it hidraulics? LOL I don´t know!)

Rodi 07-11-2002 01:53 AM

how do you render like the last image?

brian_ellebracht 07-11-2002 03:42 AM

GI_Joe

GI _Joe all the way. But then again I am using a dual 2.4 athalon System. So it renders rather fast. On my single P4 1.4g it renders alot slower because there are so many poly's. I am thinking about taking off the landing gear, and I might replace it with some type of Hovercraft system.
Thanks for all of your replies.

Well, I don't like the look of the coil overs either. Let me know if this is a good idea or not, I will add more detail for the final model, but this was just a test to get your input, but what if I had adjustable "hover" engines on the side and bottom, that can fold up. Let me know what you think thanks,
Brian

brian_ellebracht 07-11-2002 02:30 PM

Hmm... how the hover fans are going to work...

Can't attach a zip some kind of fatal error within the site... Its 1.5 mB

Well, here is the latest, I went ahead and remodeled all of the structure or support that holds on the editional fans/motors. Let me know what you think thanks,
Brian
Once I get this aspect of the model completed, I am going to work on the details, and finnaly start the animation.

Roman 07-11-2002 04:07 PM

here is the updated bike. Personaly I like this look better, but let me know what you think. Opinions are very helpfull. Thanks for all your help,
Brian

luistlf 08-11-2002 07:06 PM

man...this is awesome ! it`s amazing how you get such a good looking and detailed vehicle, realy good work, liked the concept too very convincing.
About the (GI_Joe render`s), one question, did you use a special shader or its just tweaking ?

brian_ellebracht 08-11-2002 07:09 PM

Lots of tweeking and trying out different things, but what you see on those images, is a standerd grey maya shader, just started to change stuff within GI_Joe and it works quite well,
Most of the time anyways, For some reason, sometimes it dosen't look good. I am wondering if it has anything with scene size. Not sure. thanks for your reply,
Brian

brian_ellebracht 08-11-2002 07:14 PM

Take a look at my pics In the finnished works section, has a little more recent pics. Thanks

Hello. I was wondering if I could get your opinion, I was wondering if you thought this looked better or worse with the wings please let me know, thanks guys for your time,
These aren't the final wings, and I will have spiffy supports for them like the thrusters, but I wanted to get your opinion before I finnish them thanks,
Brian

The bike and The motors, are suposed to be built by ET, as if he stayed here instead of going home, so I was wondering if the wings made it more believeable. THanks,
Brian

.:morpher:. 13-11-2002 03:58 PM

I REALLY LOVE IT:D
RESPEKT!
GREAT; GREAT WORK!

brian_ellebracht 13-11-2002 04:00 PM

so... DO you think it looks better with or without the wings? If you like it, I am going to put stubby wide wings on the engine, but it will be more like a biplane. Thanks,
Brian

luistlf 13-11-2002 04:33 PM

in my opinion i think it looks better without the wings, never the less its looks great;)
