Hello Mayafreak3,
I was thinking of doing a giraffe but it looks like you beat me to it. I found this site and I thought that it might be useful to you - lots of great front and side photos of the same giraffe. Check it out. http://www.vividcontrast.com/Giraffe...s/Giraffes.htm Good luck. |
Great start! :)
Only thing that looks a little off are the eyes, they look a little wide on the head or are the wrong angle or something. I've not seen a giraffe with such a pronounced front bump. It should add extra character to the model :) |

 .oO ( I hope someday I'll be able to model this good, this fast....)
|
Looking really good so far. I really like the way you have shaped the ears and his snout. Working on those crazy giraffe textures is going to be interesting. Keep it up.

nice detail :)
is that added in zbrush or still in maya? |
Thanks T1ck135, it is all in maya still.. I think I will add the bumps on his horns and wrinkles above his eyes in Z-brush.

It's coming along nice! I bet it will be great!

Looks really neat!
From your mesh it seems you decided to add the wrinkle detail in Maya and not in Zbrush. Are you gonna use Zbrush on this guy? The edges near the tip of the ear look different. What have you got going on there? Dave |
Looks like you're there with the head modelling (apart from any snazzy stuff done with zbrush). Its looking very realistic to the photo.
The UV looks like a hippo - two animals out of one - cool ;) |

The edges that you see near the tip of the ear are because the front side and backside of the ear are very close together at the tip. So you are seeing some of the back edges. If I zoom in they are not actually poking through, when I zoom out it kind of flickers in maya. I should prolly adjust the ear and make it a tad bit wider at the tip. I will add a displacement in Z-Brush..and prolly do the texture map in Z-brush as well. Quote:

texture start.. this is from photoshop.. so far..need to deal with some uv stretching issuses
|
Yeah nice texturing start. I like the feeling of smooth skin, mostly at nostril entry or inner ears.
Hopin' you'll set up these famous eyebrows long pilosity which make them so peacefull & kind. Cool cool cool to me ... ;) |
Your working so so fast man!! Good work dude!
|

Hahahahahahahahaha! Very good man!:attn:

cool progress mayafreak, its looking great already, the veiny ears are fab :)
|
Awsome render mayafreak3! Now how about some fur?
|
As gracious as a real one
Hehe, soooon a nice brown and short fur (the reason why, I suppose, you leave top of head mid-detailed ;)) |

Thanks everyone :attn:
I'm going to redo the displacement. I am considering just modeling the detail in maya. I worked some more on the texture mapping in z-brush. Here is a new render minus the displacement I added in a blurred background. This has Final Gather, and an outdoor HDRI. |
