The only thing I can think of it the animate the glow intensity of each colour (like red, green, blue whatever) and get a patten you like for about one second and then set their animation curves to repeat.

This won't make it random however but I think this is what real ones are like. I think it's been a fair while I since I have been one one mind you.

:D

Thanks for being so optimistic Magicsy, I hope it will be great too!!

Cheers for the idea about the glow intensity Tim, I'll give it a shot and see how it looks.

Take it easy,

Mat.

Hello,

I've tried a few different ways of lighting the floor and like this one the best, the floor has a translucency of 1 and the spotlights set below it have barn doors on them and a slight angle on the penumbra.

I'll get an animation of it up when I have rendered it, I used your idea ,Tim LIVID, of cycling through a few different light patterns and I rekon you were right about that way being how the real ones work.

Cheers,

Mat.

Are you goig to have it brighter than that?

happymat27 03-02-2006 10:38 AM

I'm not too sure at the moment. That render environment is pretty bright, the final piece will be much darker so the lights will hopefully appear brighter, if not I can always turn them up a bit.

Cheers,

Mat.

This is true

happymat27 03-02-2006 03:55 PM

Here's a test render of the dance floor flashing.

All of the lights are on a 4 second cycle, hopefully when the Fro-bot and the rest of the scene is animated it will not seem so repetative!!

Enjoy,

Mat.

Looks good, get some colour in there and think that's the floor done.

:D

I'm toying with the idea of leaving the floor lights white, a bit like that Michael jackson video where the flagstones light up (might be Billie Jean, not sure).

The spinning lights are pretty colourful, I'm not sure wether the floor being coloured might over do it. I'll do a render or two with colours and without when the scene is complete and see how I feel then.

Cheers,

Mat.

Could look better, I can't really visualise it until I see it.

Coming alone though.

Hello again,

I've started to make a scene to put my Fro-Bot in and I'm having problems with the lights along the top of the bar.

The original is fine, it is the one with light fog, but the others which I have duplicated from the original have no light fog. When I select the light fog in the Hypershade panel and choose 'select all objects with shader' (or whatever it says) all of the lights are selected. Where has my light fog gone??

Hope you like the scene anyway, it's got a long way to go but it's getting there. It's funny how a simple model can so easily get not so simple!!

Tim_LIVID 06-02-2006 10:06 PM

Are you wanting to have each spot light have a fog on it?

happymat27 06-02-2006 10:13 PM

Only the ones around the bar at the moment, do I have to set each one up seperately?

Tim_LIVID 07-02-2006 11:05 AM

As far as I know you do, but as soon as you do one that you like it won't take long to do the rest like that.

happymat27 07-02-2006 11:59 AM

Cheers Tim,

I thought as much so I set to work on them. Like you said, once the first one is done setting the attributes on the others isn't too time consuming.

I'll post an update when all the scene lights are done.

Take it easy,

Mat.
