haha.. get on it!! wicked man.. hehe :p
Looking great bud, cant wait to see the animation.
It is looking great. You sure have a lot of talent. Keep it going.
i agree, a lot of talent this is awesome and that render look the material...just great, i`ve worked arround with GIJOE(i use ti on my mountain bike) and i just can`t get that kind of look, i love your toon`s material:(
Thanks, guys. :D
Luistlf - It's actually a combination of GIJoe, 3 point lighting, and shaders. Earlier in this post, I attached my skin shader... it's on the first page, I think. Check it out if you'd like. It's not all that complicated. :) The rest of the shaders are made pretty much the same way, except without the specular and of course, different colors. |
hey mike, nice character! and u managed to build a set in a day?? wow!
with things like ur clothing and those kitchen gloves, do you model the body, then model a piece of clothing to fit over the top of the flesh? or do you just leave the out the body and just model the piece of clothing as if it was on the body? |
hehe.. wicked man.. :p
Little bit more done. :)
Thanks guys! Nem - There isn't any body under the clothes. The only place there is is for the glove. The hand is inside it, but that's because I'm planning on using this model for other stuff after this challenge. http://www.mtmckinley.net/cg_toon47.jpg |
keep 'em comin' man.. it's turnin' out real sweet.. :p
mtmckinley dont forget to stick it in the gallery when its done m8.
David :) |
Will do, David. :D
Well, it's late in my neck of the woods, so I'd better turn in. Here's what I did today. Mostly rigging. Used smooth binding rather than my usual rigid and it turned out a lot better than I thought... I'm going to have to try smooth out more often. So, here's a render: http://www.mtmckinley.net/cg_toon48.jpg Now that I've got him situated, I need to adjust the lighting, but I'll wait until the rest of the environment is done for that. And here's a wire/xray view: http://www.mtmckinley.net/cg_toon49.jpg And as a Simply Maya exclusive, you can get a hi-res wire frame image here: www.mtmckinley.net/cg_toon49hi.jpg (234k) :D Thanks! Now, it's off to bed. :D |
This is looking totally awesome. It's one of the coolest things i've seen for a while. Wish i had an ounce of your talent!!!
Thanks, mrmacca. :) Those swords are lookin' pretty cool.
Just give it time. It all comes to those who persevere... I'm still working at it. lol |
Your well on your way MIKE.
Thanks, Kurt! :D
hehe.. it's lookin' really cool man.. wicked work..!
Thanks, Roman. :)
Today I took a break as I've been working on this guy pretty much every day for the past week, but I couldn't help but mess with it a little bit. I'm still fiddling with the pose. I've got a bit of clipping toward the hems of the pants, but I'll take care of that later. He's going to be looking at a cartoon dog begging to be fed, so his facial expression comes from doing so much and yet being asked to do more. :p http://www.mtmckinley.net/cg_toon50.jpg If you guys get tired of my inane updates, just let me know. I'll just post "milestones" so to speak if you want. :D |
keep on postin' man.. i'm sure everybody enjoys them.. :D
yup i think they look awesome
if you are looking for a "look" to use on him, i have 8 words for ya
"Can you smell what the Rock is Cookin' " :D |
Pop-eye meets Steven King. :D
Thats lookin really great so far. Those shirt wrinkles look awsome... how did you do those? Just split poly tool a bunch of times? And then soften the normals? Great. =] |
ha ha ha ha. damn mike. how you do it. clean some dishes now boy.. too cool.
Thanks guys! I've given myself a little break from him this weekend, but I expect to get back to it Sunday or Monday.
LOL! ... excellent modelling mike! and rigging and everything! :D
Coming up nice. The window looks a bit off but I assume it's not going to be like that in the end? (maybe some sort of frame and a directional light coming in from outside...)
hehe.. cool man..
are you makin' the "real" kitchen..? :p |
Great job!
I cant wait till I can do stuff like that:confused: until then I will just watch and learn:beer: |
i dont know if any one can see this but on my monitor it looks like he has the red eye effect you get in photos just thought id say
It just get better and better. I'm expecting a tutorial on how you created this from the very beginning to the very end :D I'm kidding of course. Glad you're a member here at SM though, we can all learn a hell of a lot from you. Great work.
can ya post a real picture of ya self??
tariqrf.. you'll find the "real" mike in the one of the previous pages.. :p
excellent work mike
Nice
Hey Mike,
Looks nice ... like the sinew to the arms :o) Is there a body under the shirt or is the shirt attached to the neck and arms .... also ... the creases in the shirt etc. how would you plan on animating them or is this a still :o) Regardless, It does look very, very nice. Don. |

It's kinda funny. When I moved the character's head, you could see where the shirt was slightly open at the neck and you'd see that there was nothing underneath, so I just put a big sphere in the shirt with the skin shader... So, yes he's got a body.... it's a sphere. lol
I would like to do some animation with this guy. I'm planning on using Set Driven Key with Blend Shape to "animate" the wrinkles. Thanks everybody! |
wow.. nice body bud.. LOL :D
keep it up man.. hehe :p |
I've started implementing him into my site some if you're interested. :) Link's in sig.
