i'm wondering if legend did what he did on purpose, because it'd be halarious if he did...

Thanks THX...I need to improve

TDW 27-12-2010 02:05 PM

Hi, here's some of my works. I'm doing digital painting/ composing for a year only and haven't drawn on classic media since ages. Most of the time the only things I paint are textures for my 3D models, so my progress kinda slowed down a bit. I watched a lot of tutorials on digital painting, but still I have problems to get into a loose way of painting like just blocking in some shapes and painting sketchy over that. That's what I want to improve in future.

Don't know why, but most of my pictures I made lately turned out to be blueish, gotta make some colored ones next time!!!:P

Hey ho!! :)

Ok here is some of my "Conzept Art" as I`m working on a short movie.
My workflow is to model low poly sets and render it out! bevor that I play with light to ensure I have a mood to work with. Then I start to create a look and feel in PS, to get an idear of how the films intention looks best.

Then I make an animatic from the hole sequences to provide an less extensive high poly modeling part. Only what I see in my Animatic is modeled high poly, thats a lot of time saving process for me, as I did it in past in another way. I modeled the hole scene and than made the shots... realy unlucky...

I think I don´t use any style of the pics.. as you see the story plays in different ages..

I don´t know how you can comment it because its Conzept Art, nothing ready...

HEY I LIKE SM NEW STYLE!!! JEAHR!!:inlove:

First one was just a quick mock up of a digital painting I would like to do, the second is a WIP recreate of an image to get some practice before I try to do an actual digital painting.

Nice Oz....good start mate.

cheers bulet

TDW 30-01-2011 01:05 PM

Yeah, nice start sofar, keep it up!!! :) A helpfull thing, in case you don't have any suitable reference fotos, which show the pose you're going for is to use poser software such as Daz 3D or Makehuman. Also adult sites have a lot of useful ref pics, cause many of the poses you would never see in any anatomy book or on a serious ref foto which was made for artists.

My painting of the cat character some posts above I made with help of such a ref foto for example.

Hey all,

Ive been posting all the 3D stuff for my major so I thought I'd should show you all the sketches that they came from....

Let me know what you think

bullet1968 06-11-2011 07:35 AM

cool work mate...good to see you able to replicate them in 3D

cheers bullet

THX1138 08-11-2011 10:51 PM

Love the z-brush model for that concept sketch fairdinkim_m8. I think you have translated the sketch to 3D very well.

Trying to get back into the swing of sketching more again.
This is this mornings skull and eyeball warm up sketch, a selection of eye sketches and a couple of other character doodles from the past few days. I'll see if I can dig out anything else worth posting, and will post some more bits as I do them.

SilverFeather 24-11-2011 06:26 PM

I'll make this one in 3D some day. Till then I'll keep it as concept art on my dev art.

cool stuff Dango and Silver....nice work

THX1138 24-11-2011 09:30 PM

Awesome work Dango, love the skull and bloody eyeball piece! Some of the other sketches remind me of the "DEN" character from the movie 'HEAVY METAL" circa 1981.

@ Silverfeather

Thats really great work mate. My only critique would be giving your dragon a bit more depth.

I don't know how I could do that, I made it in Corel Photo-Paint and what I used mostly there were soft paints. I don't like hard color.
The sketching was done with pencil and paper though.

bullet1968 25-11-2011 12:22 AM

I think he means more subtle shading Silver......

I'm not so experienced with shading on 2D so I tried to give it shades but not too dark. This is why I like 3D more than 2D, it leaves the shading pretty much to the computer. All you have to do is adjust the values.

Dango77 25-11-2011 12:48 AM

Thanks Bullet and THX, glad you like them!
THX: Heavy Metal was cool, I think I had it on video about 20 years ago, who knows what happened to that. Might have to see if I can find it again, would be good to see it.
I'll have some more bits done soon, thankfully I have plenty of creative time at the mo!

bullet1968 25-11-2011 01:04 AM

I vaguely know of the mag but dont remember the bloody fillum!!!

Try making a new layer Silver and using grey only shade it that way then use it as an overlay or similar.

Thanks for the tips. At the moment I'm not going to make any new 2D stuff or edit this one since I still have to model some stuff on Maya for that new test I want to make with physics/camera movement and lighting. I never used the layers even though I've had Corel for a long time now.
