nice work man the ferrari is coming along nicely. but the lambo's wheels looks a bit small. keep it up.

Well I was in class today and I fogot my Lambo file but I had my modena file so I worked a little on it. I did the tail light area, the back bumper isnt complete. There are alot of erros on the back bumper like the lisence plate part and I got some dents and I didnt finish the whole thing but thatswill be finished when im done with my lambo. Well heres my tail light area & other shots

ericmattison81... as I already requested many times around here on SimplyMaya forums, could you please provide some details on the setup of your rendering scene, so that I could try to have a grasp on how this very nice lightiing and clay effect can be obtained with Maya?

These renderings are very nice for reference pictures, but I still wander around to understand how to reproduce them with Maya/Mental Ray... thanks for any infos on this!

this is kinda cheap, but the majority of the people rendering to clay like this are actually just using a preset maya 7 has. all ya gotta do is select all your objects and add them to a new render layer. after that, right click on said render layer, go to presets, and choose occlusion. that should give you the style of render that you see these guys pumping out like it's nothing...

in my opinion, though, rendering with these settings or with final gather and global illumination etc. leads to people not knowing how to actually create a good light setup. you get people that don't understand the concepts of light linking, and people that don't realize that the occlusion render usually looks too blown out on top to actually look good or get good comments and criticisms from.
