Garry1953 13-01-2003 09:50 AM

Welcome.
I look forward to your scene.
I'm not familiar with this tomb or the associated history either.

P.S. would this be associated with the TAJ MAHAL?

tariqrf 15-01-2003 12:37 PM

exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - THE TAJ MAHAL... i thought of saying that but just wanted to test your knowledge....:D... anyway... finished that base and the basic foundation of the building right now..

will post pics soon,
tariq

btw, i just saw babyducks entry..... hey!!!! are two supposed to have the same idea????.... well, now i have improve on mine a lot!!!!!

anyway.... plz i need feedback and suggestions... i have to win this time!!!!

Garry1953 15-01-2003 08:52 PM

tariqrf

I don't think it matters how many use the same idea in principle, as each individual sees the same thing slightly different.

Your model is looking good.

latest update with better minarets and a bit of adjustments(just testing with a bit of texture)

tariqrf 16-01-2003 08:48 AM

btw, please let me know of the errors and.... suggestions????

i dont know too much texturing... so i am confusued right now... but your suggestions are always welcome

ereitz 16-01-2003 09:56 AM

i'm curious what you're using as reference photos - was there once - amazing place - there's also this big long fountain in front of it. Going to model that??? sorry - can't help you with texturing as i know diddly squat myself...;)

nirsul 16-01-2003 02:04 PM

Great model

now, add some trees a fountain or 2 and some textures and you have a super great model !

well the same applies to me - i have to improve mine as i compete with you directly now ;)

some feedback i give anyway - you model is way to small - no human beeing is able to climb your steps - unless you want to have some giants walking around. - the whole thing is 74 meter high - and the big base plate is roughly 130 (!!!) meter. the thing we are modeling is huge huge huge - and considering that it is pure white marble - nobody can afford to buy such a thing nowadays ;)

tariqrf 16-01-2003 07:50 PM

i thought of not adding it... btw, i am modelling it with one front photo and the rest is my guess..
maybe i will add the trees and the water... not a fountain......

neway, i will post the reference pics.... i cannot see the steps in it...

btw, i did visit the place... when i was... 4 years old..:D

latest update, what do you think about the door and the texture??

ereitz 22-01-2003 07:03 PM

nice texture around the door! I'd like to see it close up. From this distance it is very convincing.

Garry1953 22-01-2003 08:20 PM

I agree with ereitz :)
Looks good. A close up of the door would be nice.

the texture cannot be judged from that far distance - but it looks like you made a miniature taj mahal - ar you going to make a toy? about the door, you dont have a door in there yet. the big round thingy is not the door - the door is inside that round opening - and the door is about a 15th of the size of the big archs height ;)

hey!!!! babyduckie, its only in the 6th stage.... out of 10.... the door is bump mapping... rendering currently going on..........

-<{ JB }>- 22-01-2003 11:59 PM

It looks VERY good! But one comment: it does look a little like a miniature. Perhaps making the texture a bit smaller (more noise) would help.

tariqrf 23-01-2003 07:38 AM

ok, now i have to work on the size and the texture... i will post the results..

thanx

:Edit:

i am just a noobie.... i dont know how the heck to do stuff!!!!

even if it is in the stage 6 out of ten, but the "door" is NOT the door you want us to think it is. here is a picture of taj mahal that should make you understand what i talk about. and yes, the little ants are human beeings.

tariqrf 24-01-2003 05:22 PM

yeah..... i know that.... being from that country, i did not even visit it!!! shame on me!!!!!! - the door and other minor details will be in the last stage....

sorry for the late updates... anyway, size it up... i think i did it a bit too much... feedback??

why no replies... anyway,, here is the latest render, i may change the grass and the sky.... but the trees are comin up...
and surely i am going to change the "water"... if you move a bit away from the screen and look the render... it looks freakingly amazing(to me:D).... suggestions??

undseth 26-01-2003 01:48 PM

That big dome has a cool specular on it!

And the four towers looks good and detailed. Can you sneak inn more details? I don't know if there is "supposed" to be more elements, so I'd show more of the floor. Right now there is much emphasis on the lawn in front. :)

i only have one reference image of the front view... ok... wil try to put in more details... the door and all that... btw, do you know of a good water shader... i need still water not the like the one i have right now:

undseth 26-01-2003 02:04 PM

I'm thinking you may need more than a shader to bring life to the small pool. Unless the water (seeing the water surface) turnes out to be opaque. If it is transparent, then you could model the bottom of the pool, and maybe add real or fake caustics. But I'd go look for some photos for inspiration, nature is a wonderful thing.

And some small people near the building would give some greatness to this, which is of a conciderable size in relation to the human body.

tariqrf 26-01-2003 02:52 PM

ok... you are trying to say something..... what is it thats bad about the model....except the water...???

el_newty 27-01-2003 09:20 AM

I like the first picture ( with reflection ) the second it's with to much noise...
I think that the reflection gives some cool efect to the scene :)

abra 27-01-2003 11:51 AM

jep, the first one is better.... and look on the shadow on the background! it makes it look unreal!

tariqrf 27-01-2003 04:20 PM

i did notice the shadow too... i will change that... but what about the rest of the scene... i will make the taj mahal a bit whiter and brighter which it is supposed to be according my my mom... updates comin' up.....!!!

thanks for the feedback..
Tariq
