looking good - i wonder what it would look like if the global scale of the grass came down by half or so...

tariqrf 27-01-2003 08:18 PM

confirmed... even i was thinking about it.... thanx alot brian and ereitz!!!!

brian_ellebracht 27-01-2003 08:28 PM

Not sure what the scale of the grass is supposed to look like, so I will just say, that if you took out your building and put a regular house there it would look like the front lawn. Hope that gives you a sense of scale, not sure if it is supposed to be a big lawn or not. If so, you may want to decrease the scale a tad as ereitz has said. thanks,
Brian

How about a transparancy map that makes the middle of the pool opaque and slightly transparent at the sides (so you can see through the water and see the structure on the side of the pool.

tariqrf: No, no I didn't try to say anything, beside the things mentioned.

The last water surface is fascinating, but how aobut a middle way between the last two solutions, regarding the pool?

Another thing, is there supposed to be any stairs leading up, from the pool to the building? The plateau seems a little inaccessable with no stairs around.

Oh, and a last thing, when raising the camera and showing more of the background, how about making a background pic with some landscape, that would be really nice, and give the picture even some more depth I think.

Btw, those shiny domes looks fantastic!

abra 28-01-2003 07:15 AM

hey! the last water is absolutely cool!

and i think undseth is right about the background! with this one, it looks like your taj mahal is on the top of a very high mountain so that it's on the same hight with the clouds... a background with a little ground on it would be great!

mumbojumbo_13 28-01-2003 11:50 AM

hey there is grass coming out of the concrete edge of the water i think
but part from that :D

tariqrf 28-01-2003 05:01 PM

I noticed that too... changes comin' upl...sorry got to disconnect :(

tariqrf 29-01-2003 01:31 PM

what do i think? what about you change you camera position.

it is just obvious to me, that you copied my camera postition. but not when i posted the pist pic on the 17th, but when i added some surroundings of final arrangement. not even half hour before that you only had the building. and if i am not blind you did not put energy into it (nothing of the shape changed) until the day i posted the pic with the trees. and after less than a day you recreated what i had. and you even dared to tell me that i should consider working on my grass. i think because your grass was so great? it is not, by the way. even to the blind it is obvious i did not put energy in my grass part - unless you call a green lambert checker working. oh i did work on it, i arranged it where it is - that is artwork too - but you dont know that as you just thought it is easy. and you found the exact same spot for camera too ???

mtmckinley 29-01-2003 05:34 PM

the only way for you both to have an original project is to obviously not both model the same building.

:P

i have one reference pic... only one... thats the one i found on the web... i model in stages... first the building... then the scenery... the "copying" is purely coincidental.... beleive me...

this is a smaller trimmed out version of the reference pic i have:

Emo 29-01-2003 09:03 PM

here's a bigger reference picture :D

sorry mike, my bad that i choose the most or second most known shot of taj mahal (got that right ereitz?). dont worry tariqrf, keep your reference, i will think of differant shot now.

peace

Please be civil. Inflammatory remarks from either party will not be tolerated.

ereitz 29-01-2003 09:25 PM

the straight on front view of the Taj Mahal with the pool stretching directly out in front is the single most famous view of the building there is. it's on a million postcards.

Hidalgo 29-01-2003 10:21 PM

I didn't realize how big the Taj Mahal is...

quite a project to model....

M 29-01-2003 11:47 PM

Now thats a airplane proof structure :)

mumbojumbo_13 30-01-2003 06:19 AM

is it true the guy cut off the craftsman's hands so they couldn't make anyhting so beautiful again ?

tariqrf 30-01-2003 09:25 AM

thanks everyone..... sorry for the "no updates".. will post the next change....

tariqrf 30-01-2003 09:28 AM

does anyone here know of the "way" to get into the taj mahal?, perhaps stairs???? or people use teleportation to get into taj mahal????? in the reference pic i dont see any stairs...

ereitz 30-01-2003 10:33 AM

i believe there is a stairway - you can see a small protrusion from the platform in your reference pic - the stairway goes in both directions - one of them is for the entrance and the other for the exit - the stairways meet near the center of the building directly in front of the main doorway - they are hidden behind the protrusion. i know that's kind of confusing but it's as clear as i can make it without drawing a picture :)

tariqrf 30-01-2003 02:53 PM

what is hard to understand - you cannot see the steps anyway, why bother to model them?

the steps are behind the little cube that sticks out in front of pool. and if i am informed correctly, you have some big steps, like platforms - to each platform leading up 13 or 15 steps, and every time you step on a little step you feet get watered by the water of the river to clean them - but that is no longer working, as others tried to understand how it workds, ripped it open, and destroyed the mechanism. now it is only stpes, no watering any more.

tariqrf 30-01-2003 04:18 PM

are you talking about the super small steps that i modelled in the first stage??????

nope that is something in between, the small steps are even smaller, and the platforms are bigger. but basically you have staircase leading up and meeting in middle, all is hidden behin a wall. so you dont see the side if you look at front of taj mahal. the scale is off in your first stage - as i wanted tell you that the big platforms no human can climb, as there are the mentioned 13 or 15 steps lead up to them.

tariqrf 30-01-2003 04:27 PM

ok..so no more steps modelling..... thanx
