Tweetytunes - Earthling Spaceship
Going for good old human`s - blow ever thing up ask question later. But I think I`m just going to model and see where it takes me.

Another update.
Still playing with a lot of idea`s in my head and ruffing them out in 3d. Got 4 of the same engines at the mo but will add some more personal details after I lock down the idea a bit more. Took an hour to do a Occ pass - dame another long ass render time project for me then - thank god I learnt alot the last one.. http://www.ravage3d.com/images/sship/spaceship1_3.jpg http://www.ravage3d.com/images/sship/spaceship1_2.jpg |
Wow, looks great so far! I'll have to get started on my entry today...
|
this looks pretty sweet
|
awesome, looking great so far
|
Looking really nice so far, I'll look forward to seeing it progress, and your Evil-Lyn too! Are you still doing the Doctor Doom? Hope so, it was going well last time I saw your update, keep up the good work, all of it!
|
dude, stop being so cool!!
how many guns are you going to shove onto it? |
nice!
|
Wow - thanks for all the kind words. A little blown away this morning. If you really look its just a bunch of slightly changed primitives.

im mainly amazed because you could think up of such detail... unless you were looking at something else as you did it....
|
Ep 1 - pod racers and a lego ship my niece sent me a photo off. I also have the shape of Battlestar stuck in my head as I love that show and still have the final ep fresh in my mind as-well. (but I don`t want it to have the same shape overall). There is also about 30 - 40 very ruff scribbles to figure out what I`m going to do. Going to try and draw up a overall plan while watching a film while having some food - might have to whip out farscape/firefly.
I also have a name for it now as well - "The Omen" - because when you see it - your going to hell ... hehe |
|
|
This is looking amazing so far!
However, are you going to fix the guns? The two barrels on the side look like they were just "Ctrl-D'd" and placed beside the original. They seem out of place without a proper attachment...Looking great! |
cool - this is looking very nice so far. ack! - makes me want to enter. :)
|
Arren its been a long time since you did, but every time you do - you beat me so .. up to you - we miss you man - give us a run for our money.
Its so funny Farscape "Peace keepers wars" is on tonight for Easter (don`t ask me what its got to do with it). Gun finished - when you see the size of these you`ll see why this is as much detail as I`m putting in to them. http://www.ravage3d.com/images/sship/spaceship1_6.jpg |
Close up of gun and missile tubes
http://www.ravage3d.com/images/sship/spaceship1_8.jpg whole ship so far http://www.ravage3d.com/images/sship/spaceship1_7.jpg There are lots of empty spaces at the mo but that's because its still very early on and I want the shape more than the detail for now. The missile tubes are also rigged to open and the guns are set up to rotate in the correct directions. Will place them at non-even placements once the whole thing is done - randomize it a little. |
Right blocked in most of the ship just so I don`t forget where I want to go with this. This thing has changed so many times in my head and its been just over 24 hours so locking it down will do me some good.
http://www.ravage3d.com/images/sship/spaceship1_9.jpg The only part I`m not 100% on is the front, but its only very basic at the mo and thinking once I get some details on it - it will take shape. The sticking out part with have telecommunication equipment on it and with spin around and the side wings hangers (the only thing I have nicked from battle star). I know I am steaming thought this one but I want as much time as poss to texture. |
looking pretty intricate can't wait to see this one textured
|
inspiration by lego! you are the man
those cannons are screaming our "EARTHLING-MADE" |
Hey I noticed you bevelled some stuff...
Can you teach me how to apply a texture to something after it's been bevelled? I've tried deleting history... |
Pandinus - you have to UV map it.
Questions are fine of course, but try not to hijack the thread. :) Just an early warning. |
Well twentytunes, looks like you're doing it again. It maybe just basic shapes and primatives but the detail is there and i found that cool designs are harder to come by, but once you get it they are so much more fun to work on, this is what you have!
To be honest you have made me rethink my own spaceship - which is a good thing - and i wish you luck on this project. |
Well thanks again for all the kind words. One think I forgot when I blocked the shape in was the bomb - the whole purpose of the ship. So been working on that all day and this is what I have come up wit so far..
http://www.ravage3d.com/images/sship/spaceship2_1.jpg Instead of one planet-killer bomb it now has six (and I might go for 12 who knows). I also have a load of flaps that are in the straight pose for now but will be changed about towards the end just like the guns. Just need to figure out 2 things now - 1) where its going to go - which leads to 2) how will it attach to the ship - hmmmmm just under 1000000 poly mark now aswell And Pandinus - yes I bevel everything but always before I start to uv map and texture so I never really had a problem with bevels and texturing. |
1.3 million polys and counting - resulting in cmd rendering already. And yes it does have 12 bombs now.

Crazy amounts of detailing Tweetytunes, good luck texturing this beast! Blown away with your work as usual.... Keep it up mate!
|
thats ill
|
Nice work tweetytunes! That ship is well armed and ready for battle. I am also anxious to see how it looks textured. You mentioned to Dango that you may do a Star wars fly over. That should be good!! It will be fun watching it evolve!!
|
The idea behind this ship is not for battle but to finnsh it off. It would jump in and drop the payload and only use the guns and missels to deafend itself while waiting to set up the bomb drop then reteat away from the blast.
Well thats how it works in my head. If not a starwars fly over a fly around the ship by a smaller craft or some thing. but I want to show off the little details - like the flaps moving and the mounted guns moving. I know texturing is going to be a bitch on this one that's why I want it finished sooner than later so I can get to work on them. Any progress on the command centre part of the ship. The hangers are still very ruff but the command post (the box on top is almost done - just need to add some comm`s equipment. http://www.ravage3d.com/images/sship/spaceship2_3.jpg It almost looks like a finished ship - hehe |
|
wow an you have an insane amount of detail being put into this, i see why your thinking of doing a sort of fly through, it would be a shame to not be able to show the detail in the quality it deserves.
Wouldnt wana be around when this thing emptys its cargo. |
thank you - i was thinking of putting in all the bolts and screws as well - will have to see.
HEHE no only joking. |
yep yep yep - this is looking very very nice mate.
|
Well all the blocking in is done and I`m very happy with the shape. Now its just a case of filling in the open areas with some more details. It is a little longer than I planned at first and the front end changed a little but it still looks kick ass.

Models looking coool!
And nice one for the info about the new "cities of gold" thing, will have to take a look at that and find out more, was one of my all time favorite cartoons of yesteryear! |
not a prob - you know for years I thought I made that show up in my head as I only ever caught the show once and no one I knew had ever heard of it - that was until last year when they released the complete boxset - it still looks so cool.
|
Ha ha, I had the same thing with the show Ulysses 31, I used to have dreams with a character that had a shield that came out of a wrist band, and a gun that folded itself up and turned into a sword, then I found out that the shield came from that cartoon! Not sure about the fold up sword/gun, if I did make that up at the age of 6 that was pretty cool!
|
I loved Ulysses 31. This months HMC over at cgtalk has bourght back sooooo many memorys.
Just imagine the nightmares kids are going to have with today's kids tv - no wonder they all play video games now - huh 80`s tv kicked ass. ( and before you say thats because there was no computer back then - I had a computer from the age off 3 - and I always turn the comp of for my tv shows) |
NIce details. Good job
