Damm man! thats what I was goint to do!!

haha, joking.

Well heres the first (of many i'm sure) progress pics, just defining the topology and getting the overall forms in there. Think that I'll have to add the teeth ASAP as his overbite adds a lot to the overall character so I wont be able to determine home correctly without them.

So Just blocking in areas at the moment and making the topology fit, once its so so I'll refine the model.

mastone 20-06-2009 06:42 PM

coming along nicely there, carry on smithers

found a fun mr burns on the internet btw;

Nice start Steve, been looking forward to seeing your start and you aren't disappointing!

I'm very interested to see what pose you put him in, there are so many classic ones to choose from, and I'm sure you have many ideas for new and different ones!

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for thecomments guys.

Further work getting the basics in there. Need to refine it a lot.

Chirone 22-06-2009 07:12 AM

Thinking that thats the one really.

Made a bit of an update, still tryingto sort out the overall shape.

Any crits and comments appreciated on the overall shape.

With "humans" I dont really stress and can get the proportions going well but for this, I've got to say I'm finding it hard!

Cheers

Steve

Side view,

Think that I need to get his teeth in there.

Dont worry about the "lumps bits" I'll sort them when its got hte form there.

Dango77 24-06-2009 09:31 PM

Starting to get there Steve, liking it so far,
Getting those teeth in there will really bring it to life, look forward to it!

s2-speedy 29-06-2009 10:34 AM

Looking good so far steve :) cant wait 2 see more.

P.S - i also agree that a character like Mr burns is a Villain, They dont need superpowers to be a villain.

Cheers Speedy.

Been playing wit hte proportions, going to add the ear and a holder for the hair as I'm thinking of using maya hair for it.

Dango77 29-06-2009 07:56 PM

It's really starting to take shape Steve, and I'm sure once you've got the ear and the hair holder in there it'll be a bit easier for you to visualise it. Your doing a great job on it, from what I've heard modeling a 2d to 3d is pretty challenging, so keep up the good work!

anasasis 30-06-2009 01:43 PM

loving it gster really nice shape modelling is looking great and love the idea to do burns theirs no one more evil. this is shaping up to be a really popular and competetive challenge

Thanks guys

Added his ear and it helped a lot I feel, also have a little push and pull to the shape. once I'm happy with the flow of everything I'll add the rest of him then take him into Z.

anasasis - Your a mo cap TD? We'll have to have a chat sometime, I use mocap stuff all the time for research as well as training! we use an Animazoo system.

Started on his shirt and tie.

bigtommyb 04-07-2009 10:59 AM

Hey Gster, looks good i look forward to the final product, how realistic are you going to end up as you said your going to use maya fur for the hair so i think you might need to add more detail to other parts or the hair will look odd.

Just a thought :)

Tom

gster123 04-07-2009 11:14 AM

hi Tom.

I'm going to keep his exadurated look but take him into Z for a sculpt to add some wrinkels and such as well as add somre more realistic definitions. Im going to give him a pretty realisitc skin texture as well as eyes and clothes, though the eyes will have small pupils and such, but keep it in a toony way if that makes sense???

Dango77 04-07-2009 11:49 AM

A hybrid realistic/cartoon version! It'll definitely be interesting to see how you do it Steve, looking better with the tie and shirt now, he's starting to come together!

anasasis 12-07-2009 02:42 PM

its going to be an interesting look cant wait animazoo system you say the lab im at at the moment we have a 24camera motion analysis system deffinately keen for a chat sometime

gster123 14-07-2009 07:50 AM

Sounds good, personally not heard of that system, is it similar to a Vicon?

The Animazoo's great, it's portable wireless and you have no occlusions of swappings so clean up is very minimal, though it is a tad limiting in the motions that you can capture.

created his jacket, going to do his hands, trousers and shoes and then off to Zbrush for some fun!

s2-speedy 14-07-2009 08:26 AM

NICE!

cant wait to see him finished :)

Chirone 14-07-2009 08:44 AM

Wire for you Chrone.

s2-speedy 14-07-2009 12:57 PM

Hi Gster,

I know mr Burns is a scrawny runt, but his legs look too thin compard to his arms. Id probably make them a lil thicker, like the size of his arms.

Looks good though :)

gster123 15-07-2009 09:37 AM

Yeah man, your right, I'll fatten e'm up! Wasn't looking at my references and just trying to go from memory, Silly boy!

Added an eye texture to him, looks a bit mad!

Dango77 15-07-2009 04:15 PM

Excellent, he looks deranged! Maybe make the pupils a little larger?
Liking how the rest of him's going though Steve, looking forward to seeing him with some colour!
