Hi everybody, just thought someone may be interested in this Tut I AM currently doing, its a 3d buzz advanced modeling and is full of good stuff.

This is a poly carfor smoothing, polygons built onto an initial curve network, which is a way i have not approached it before, am finding really usefull.

oldhippie_tom 14-03-2010 01:47 PM

Paldav, I did this tutorial about a year and a half ago. I enjoyed it so very much and learned a lot from it. I kind of enjoyed the moderators, they tried to keep you interested. And learned to do an interior, I had always wanted to do that! I am sure you will enjoy it a lot!! Anxious to see your progress!! Looks very good so far!!

Mayaniac 14-03-2010 02:18 PM

Mayaniac 23-03-2010 12:04 AM

Very good. Your mesh is holding up very well. You could try some basic renders, just to see what it looks like with a paint shader on there. Might help to weed out any bad areas.

Nice work.

K got a few glitches, with cars the detail makes a big difference, now i know why a lot of people say theyre hard to do

started to test the body in mental ray, some good areas some not so good, just got to keep rebuilding those panels, this is where i normaly give up......but not this time

Heres the dirty stuff, im rebuilding the roof and windows as one piece against the existing stuff, then i will estract the different bits out of it and stich back onto the original ( if theres anything left of it) that way i get continuity across the whole shape.

Decided if this doesnt workout im still gonna post it, mistakes are wha we learn from anyway

murambi 01-04-2010 01:21 PM

this is coming along great check out young lions studio lighting tut

Mayaniac 01-04-2010 03:07 PM

Yeah, looks good. Your HDRI image is over powering your paint shader. If you decide to follow a studio lighting tut (like Lion's) you probably won't need to use an HDRI probe.

Nice work.

"Incremental save" should have been told on (under save options)- never mind

Looking good model wise - so work needed on the lighting (cant believe I`m saying that mind you)

Yeah lighting is rubbish at mo..just wanted lots of reflections to get a gist of the surface continuity, well i am experimenting with a quick rebuild as single mesh, then break it apart at the panels.

Still getting the new shell back to where i originaly abandoned it, so for fun i decided i liked the spoiler from the roadster better

bullet1968 04-04-2010 01:58 AM

very, I mean very nice man. You have a clean looking mesh there, that would have been difficult. Im too scared myself to touch a car at the moment. Well done mate, looking good cant wait to see it finished.

Nearly there i think with the rebuilt panels, got a lot of glitch where the door meets the front wheel arch, not too bad from this angle though, but i will go over it tommorrow.

bullet1968 05-04-2010 12:55 AM

not bad at all mate, dig the colour too!! Keep it up man

But the door - wheel arch is still giving me trouble, got to get those reflections to line up!

bullet1968 05-04-2010 08:47 AM

Is it a ripple I can see?? ever so slight!!! painful, you can have my cockpit effort then!!!! I tried it Kurts way but it didnt fit, so Im trying ep's and cv's now, man its bloody hard. I dont know how you guys get so good!!!

Still looking good though

Phew! hard mornings work, next is the crease at the side of the front bumper which in some colours go right over to the wheel arch

bullet1968 05-04-2010 12:09 PM

Looking good mate!!! not being silly but does the bonnet have a weird lighting ripple in it?

Mayaniac 05-04-2010 03:23 PM

Nice new colour, I think I like the purple on the wind mirrors myself. Try putting that on the whole car.

paldav 06-04-2010 08:07 PM

Done some more work on lining up the panels and downloaded some shaders, so will put up an updated image tommorrow, had a glass of wine toooo many tonight, thanks all

bullet1968 06-04-2010 09:55 PM

Test render, lighting is my weak weak weak point!
Anyone know a good rig for lighting cars?

bullet1968 17-04-2010 09:25 AM

No I dont BUT that looks damn good!!!!!! I know they light em up from underneath on the movies with the blue LED stuff?? Maybe a showroom look similar?

paldav 18-04-2010 07:28 PM

Well, the wall i have temporarily hit rendering has made me go back and tweak the mesh, so heres the final wires
