Ok I'm in. Going to do my take ( my own design ) of one of the spinner cars from the movie Blade Runner.

THX1138 05-02-2011 01:05 AM

Sorry for no update yet folks. Been sketching up a design. Will post it soon.

Just curious,
Were you building a 1/32 scale Trumpeter f14-d On arcforums last year THX?

Was looking around for Reviews on Tamiya's F4 Phantom kit and also for some after market parts and came across that thread and glanced at it, then noticed the username that is verbatim for yours.

Look foward to seeing your concept as it progresses here as well, Love Blade Runner.

THX1138 06-02-2011 03:25 AM

Sorry Mate, wasn't me on the F4 phantom. Must have been somebody using a screen name that was almost the same as mine.

Still not ready to post concept art for the Spinner yet. All I can say at the moment is that it will have a lamborghini flavor to it. I will tell a little more about it when I post the concept art.

Cheers mate!

THX1138 07-02-2011 01:10 AM

After many hours of hunting down my scanner's power supply, I can now show some rough concept art. It's just a basic design, and doesn't show all the detail and features that it's going to have.

What I'm attempting to do is mix together a 1975 Lamborghini Countach (my favorite design ) with a L.A.P.D. Spinner. However, so as not to break any rules, the spinner will not look like a Lamborghini, but will have a Lamborguini flavor to it. Spinners have a certain style to them, so I want to keep within the style, but sweeten it up with some Lamborghini.

EDIT: Moved concept art to my first post.

OK, here are some actual WIP's. It's still pretty rough. Just started doing the windshield.

bullet1968 08-02-2011 08:30 AM

Interesting mate....I take it you are a fan of Bladerunner??

THX1138 09-02-2011 02:13 AM

Yeah, I'm a pretty big fan. Always loved the spinner cars. Too bad they don't really exist today, because we actually have the technology to make them.

Getting some detail on it now. Got the cab and police lights on it now. Been working mostly on the door, and door frames. Have the air intakes on also. The interior will probably have the most detail, but still. I have Alot of work left to do...........

bullet1968 14-02-2011 03:39 AM

LOL not being smart but it actually looks like a comfy vehicle mate...serious...something that would fit perfick with the body ready to rock...single seater??

cheers bullet

THX1138 14-02-2011 03:49 AM

Cheers Mate! It's a 2 seater, and yes it would be very comfortable to ride in, even at the super-sonic speeds it's capable of. It also has an electric motor for ground travel. But it's most impressive feature is it's jet and anti-gravity drives. If I have time I will model the those systems for it.

bullet1968 14-02-2011 10:52 PM

You will get time and you will like it!!!! LOL

cheers bullet

THX1138 15-02-2011 12:54 AM

Best of luck with your entry mate, and everyone else here!

bullet1968 15-02-2011 01:25 AM

LOL no worries mate....because I wont let you quit dammit!!! If I cant you cant....do some interior work maybe to get the taste back again?

cheers bullet

THX1138 15-02-2011 01:30 AM

I'm still in this comp, I was just saying thanks for the support, thats all.

bullet1968 15-02-2011 02:06 AM

LOL I was teasing
I knew it, lol!

Anyway, right know I'm switching gears from detailing to more body work. I did a poly smooth test the other day, and ran into some minor problems that I thought might happen. So I am having to go back and remodel some features separately that were originally part of the main mesh. Everything will still look the way I want in the end.

I will post a WIP when I have the problem worked out.

stwert 15-02-2011 05:19 AM

I'm envious... the mesh looks really nice so far. Keep it up! I need to get a move on.

darecarce 15-02-2011 05:56 PM

great start dude keep up

bullet1968 24-02-2011 04:18 AM

Ok, here is what I have so far. Haven't been able to do too much throughout the week, but will have alot more done this weekend. I still don't know if I can finish this by deadline. I have tons to do on the interior and haven't even done anything underneath yet, and that doesn't even include the wheels, which I haven't even started yet.

bullet1968 25-02-2011 06:06 AM

Looking good mate! gee I hope you get to have some more time on this.....it would be a shame to miss it man!!!!

THX1138 25-02-2011 11:03 PM

Me to. It's basically detail work from here on out, so I'm hoping 3 days is enough time. I'm also hoping to do a little texture work also.

Cheers Bullet!

Dango77 26-02-2011 12:37 AM

Looking very nice THX, I'm liking the shapes you have in there. I really hope you manage to get at least the modelling finished on time. Good luck mate!

THX1138 26-02-2011 01:34 AM

Cheers Dango! Sorry if I haven't commented on your entry. I have seen it progress and it look pretty awesome!

Anyway, the basic modeling is complete. It's all the extra tid-bit's and add-on's thats going to wind up taking the most time.

Aurorap 26-02-2011 12:52 PM

Your design is great! It's a sort of futuristic car then ye? Love it :) cheers

THX1138 26-02-2011 05:24 PM

Yes, it a futuristic car. It's a spinner car, based from ones made for the movie Blade Runner (circa 1982. ) There where actually 4 different ones made. The Police spinner, the Lobster spinner ( which is a Taxi ), The Alfa Romeo ( which is supposed to be the Ferrari of the spinners ), and the Truck Spinner. Mine is of my own design.

Thanks for the support, cheers!

THX1138 28-02-2011 11:38 PM

Ok, wont be able to post the complete vehicle as I intended. Had started a bunch of stuff for the car mode, have the wheels modeled, but the mechanics of the suspension is just taking too long. So I'm just going to haft to post the flying mode. Will have the final images up in a few hours.

bullet1968 01-03-2011 12:49 AM

Cant wait mate...I liked you entry

Sorry folks, wont be able to finish this on time. Way too much to do ( inside and out ), and it still doesn't look good in renders, at it's current stage. One month just wasn't enough for this project. Two months maybe, but one is clearly not enough.

Will have to keep working on this along side the march challenge.

Here is a WIP of the underneath as it is right now.The front wheels are designed to fold up and and tuck underneath; however the wheels featured are just place holders. They are not final design.

And I still have tons to do in the interior.

Best of luck to everyone!

bullet1968 01-03-2011 04:30 AM

bugger it mate!! I thought you would pip it in...damn...dont stop doing it though!! I want to see this...

cheers bullet

THX1138 01-03-2011 11:57 AM

I thought I could get enough done also. Lol, it will eventually get done.

Cheers!
