it looks so AWESOME!!!
it looks like there should be something inside his mouth so that you dont see the inside... like giant teeth or a tongue

daverave 20-04-2011 08:03 AM

Hi Stwert
The hand look much better but still need to iron out the mouth and eye area, bevel is your best bet as you can play around with the offset then tidy up the mesh after.......dave

stwert 20-04-2011 04:36 PM

Thanks guys :)
Chirone, I did add a tongue, but it's not visible atm. I'm thinking for the final pose (if it's not an animation) I'll probably have his mouth more closed except with a bit of a snarl, showing teeth on one side.

Dave, allow me to quote myself ;)

But I will play with the bevel, thanks for the suggestion.

I'm still stuck between the gravity gun and the crowbar. I like the crowbar, because it's more iconic, however the gravity gun is just a bit more awesome. Although the crowbar I think has better posing potential. Yet the gravity gun would make a sweet animation.:help:

That put me in my place Stwert LOL. Try improving the texture on the crow bar, try one of the distortion filters (ocean ripple for a start) on the red colour to brake it up. If its not working for you I will see if I can do a crow bar with texture and see what you think..........dave

Edit: This is my first try. If im getting to much Stwert tell me to **** of...:)

Thanks Dave, that looks pretty nice. I tried using the bevel some on the crowbar, but it just gives you a bunch of frustrating tris everywhere. How do you go about cleaning up after a bevel?
Anyway, I worked on the head some more, how is this for a smoother shape?

something like this stwert?? I wouldnt worry too much about tri's...not in this case, you wont see them really.

cheers bullet

EDIT: some of the verts need tweaking near the ends....

daverave 24-04-2011 08:23 AM

I think your model is comming along nicely as is Stwert, the way you are modelling it would be better if you want to animate it. But if you want to show me some of the problem tri's I would show you how to fix for future use.............dave

stwert 28-04-2011 06:22 AM

I know I gotta get a move on on this... a small update:

Chirone 28-04-2011 10:36 AM

still awesome!
when is he getting pupils?

stwert 28-04-2011 04:37 PM

Probably today... I made some earlier, but the UV map was just slightly stretched and made the pupils look like crap. I'll fix the UV mapping and give the eyes a retry.

daverave 28-04-2011 05:02 PM

remember Stwert this is not a smoothed model but your uv are smoothed as default, I had to harden the top edge for that crow bar because of stretching..........dave

stwert 28-04-2011 05:20 PM

What do you mean by the UVs being smoothed by default?

daverave 28-04-2011 05:33 PM

If you go to polysrfaceshape then down to smooth mesh click on that then extra control comes up, click on that and you will see smooth uvs ticked.........dave

stwert 28-04-2011 06:43 PM

Ok, I see, but since nothing is smoothed (except the hands) I don't see how that affects the UVs on the face.
