When you have mirrored an object using scaling by -1 that object will show it's normals correctly AND will display properly when you turn off 2-sided lighting. However, when you freeze the transforms the normals will flip and the object will turn black OR if the object is part of a group you get the warning that you got and that objects "opposite" attribute gets set but the object normals are still flipped even though they display properly.

So ungroup or separate before freezing transforms.

@ctbram - Thanks. I didn't ungroup after the duplicate. I need to check the other pieces as well.

@bullet - Yep, summer is on the way so we will be having quite of few of them now. They are never as spectacular as the Hollywood versions though. In the last 12 years I've only seen one like in the movies. Spring 2009:

LOL The first 5 minutes is great and then you realise that you are getting sand and dust into places you thought you never had

bullet1968 02-02-2012 09:05 PM

LOL something an Aussie knows too well Pixal...LOL though it is usually at the beach..not in a storm.

ctbram 02-02-2012 10:20 PM

So on top of everything the slithers or crawls in Australia being deadly you have to deal with sand storms too! /jk

daverave 02-02-2012 10:23 PM

ctbram 02-02-2012 10:30 PM

Bullet knows I like to pick on him about crocodiles and deadly spiders and snakes crawling out the bathtubs down under. I live in Michigan, where the most deadly thing would probably be considered a cuddly pet in Australia.

Jay 02-02-2012 10:33 PM

Dave: when it rains where I live in the UK...it RAINS...we get flooding down here...really not good

J

daverave 02-02-2012 11:50 PM
