Hi all, I am working on the top banner of the simply 3d world .com site.

This will be a central point for all the simply sites, with combined news from each, top hot threads from each etc...

I am after a character / logo ..whatever ...kinda like the dragon / wasp type thing to go on the banner. If any one has any good renders then I would be much apreciative.

I have include the banner for you to see... the logo will apear on the left of the banner in that space... I was thinking maybe a car or character? kind of showing a wire frame and then moving on to a more advanced wire then the render (if you get me) but ill leave it up to you.

If I like something then naturally credits will go to you for the logo.

I will be working away here also so might have a few ideas myself :)

I want to get this banner up with a day or so so not much time :) banner logo must be supplied in a psd (please) :D

Like the colors mate maybe add a few things to the orange type to give it soe depth....

stole the over all idea from our buddy ragey :)

heres a few things i did, kinda got carryed away.....sorry bout that

anyway...i thought maybe what you could do is have a loads of versions on the title/banner with a diferent artwork in it that would load randomly each time somone visited....then maybe link the artwork part to the simply 3d gallery or the artists web site?

btw guys - credits will come in the form of "if i am asked" and if we do a "staff" or credit page :)

I use a random script at my site for the different ToonMike pics on the News Page... kinda simple, so don't know if it'd work for you guys, but feel free to check the source out if you'd like. :)

yeah we already use random images on the main page for the "random image area" so wouldnt be to hard for our david :)

I also thing that brain's robot would be the best thing ever to be on that headder(sorry guys, that's just my oppinion), you know.. like --> half-meshed and half-rendered??...!! you know what I mean.. :D

OK. Heres my idea.

1: Random page. The banner can not be changed by a random image script, because it is not all one image is it??

2: There is a site I found a while back, in which you could choose the lay out you wanted. So mabey you could put something under the header, links to other layouts. Then someone could right a script, that remembered which one you chose, and always use that header.

I think some sort of car is needed like Muchroomgod submited. Also, wouldn't something to do with a 3d cube be most proper?

we can easy cut the image area to make it random np :)

we are working on multiple skin choices but these are a long way off yet...

that is completely no true!!!..
you can make a dinamic select to anything you wish on your page, doesn't metter whether it is an image or a form or a graph...
my Dad wrote his home-page that goes to the news site and steals all the info from it.... , and the funnyest thing about it?, all the info goes exactly where he programmed it to do, including pictures..
that's it, I'm done... lol :D

Considering I am a profetional web designer, i know what im talking about. So I think you must have read what I said wrong or something.

What im saying, is that the random image script they have, will not work for multiple images unless modified. Now I could help out with this if needed, I am a programer also. As far as the CGI script needed for the 'Choose you own layout' thing I suggested, im no help.

This is more in )v('s turff, but what about a challenge. Once the first few layouts are picked for the random header, we could have a competition every month to get a new one.

I was wondering about the logo image. It was mentioned earlier that the image could show a transition from wireframe to full render.

Is this what we had in mind?
(showing wireframe...render untextered...rendered textured)

maybe better quality :)

i think the best option (though i have no idea how hard it is to do), is to pic 5 images from each subject...

5 cars
5 characters
5 humans
5 monters
a selection of images that link to other simply 3d web sites etc..
+ add a nice selection of wireframe for mshoward82:)


you could also have a gallery that is also devided into sections (cars/humans etc...) that the title images could link to.

one thing i like about cgtalk is that every time you enter it theres always new images at the top...this is kinda why i think its a cool idea

You will see in a while what we are doing ..we do have random images "about 4 of them" that will chabge everytime you visit the site.

the main banner ones might be random but wont link as many people see as clicking the main banner as a way to get "home" and this would be a most annoying feature

you will see guys! it will rock! probably use a lot of the banners here

just make sure that this will be easy-updatable, so you could add more headders after each competition.. :D think it's a good idea?
and the winner's model could be as a main picture... more than half transperrent maybe?..

Kevin. What do you think about the header challenge idea? PM me if you ever have anything I can help with. Im a good 2d designer and arrager, plus, web design is what I do. I need sites that I can work on that are not my own. For experiance, and 'bragging rights' ya know?
