nice man....

Well, my crits are kindof petty, so take them with a grain of salt:) hehe...
The title stated "Old Deserted Building", so I was under the stereo-typical impression that it was going to be old, dusty, rusty metals, crumbling cement or brick, with a little bit of dust haze hanging about in the air, ..that kind of thing. But yours looks like "almost" new, as if the tennants just moved out recently. Also were you going for that bright sunny day look? ..or were you looking for the gloomy basement kinda feel? I ask because some of the objects as well as the joists do not have the stereo-typical "contact-shadow(s)". Like I said, this crit was kinda petty, so ignore me, because I don't know exactly what kind of image you have in your mind:) hehe... GREAT shot though! |
I believe you could work on the lighting on the image.
Normally you want people to experiment or feel something when they see your image, and lighting works to achieve that feel. Right now, the image doesn´t offer much. Might want to work on it. |

Problem is I did - I honestly did ! ... but I sometimes lose the objects when the scene is dark (and moody) Quote:
and I will probavbly post it in the WIP.. Thanks |
Very cool image.
Overall I think the texturing is great; I hope that I don't sound like everyone else when I say this (if I do please tell me). Again this is constructive criticism not destructive criticism; I want to build you up and not tear you down...I noticed that your sunlight has captured the glass that's leaning on the stairs; it's directly in its path; if you ever shine a light directly on glass like that, kinda like when you take a picture of your self in the mirror(but not exactly), especially at the angle that the glass is in relation to the camera, you shouldn't be able to see through it; the sunlight reflection off of the glass should create a kind of a glow that bounces off of the glass making it really difficult to even stare at, especially at this angle. All in all it is a very well textured image; Kinda reminds me of some of the crack houses in my old neighborhood, hehe; Oh! Wait a minute....I still live here....hehe...ummm...yeah...

OK , thanks for the advice
I decided to drop the sun light and also added and modified some stuff and as it is now I LOVE IT ! hope you do too. Nir:D |
This looks tons better nirsul!
Congratulations. Wonder if the glass is reflecting a tree-leaves texture? |
thanks
actually I used the cloud texture (I might have chosen a better one...) nir |
the scene looks nice, only the glass is a bit not so perfect. seams to be too reflective and not transparent. total reflection does not occur at such high angle already ;)
p.s.: on the first render i liked the glass a bit better :) |

Ok I've marked on the pic where I think it's not quite right:
1: You dont appear to have any well defined light sources in the scene and yet there are really strong (and very long! ;)) shadows coming from somewhere. You may want to think about a softer shadowing technique. 2: This is a point light hot spot i think, is that right?you need to lower the intensity of that spot, the wall would be lit in a much more even way, in other words where is the light source that is creating that hotspot? 3: See above 4: Again it's about shadows ;) This barrel i stoo dark and cast in shadow, for an object that's right at the front of the scene I would be tempted to give it a more subtle lighting, especially when the things next to it e.g. the glass and the poster underneath are much much brighter than the barrel. I hope this has been helpful, I'm really enjoying our work and i think that the modelling and texturing as a whole are great, but shadows are so important and the really can let your cg work down if you dont get them right. :( :) Alan Ps. Sorry about the big red scrawls all over you pic... :p |
