and i dont even want to imagine what you are able to create when you do make a concept :D

afterwards i can at least say - that i was in the same challenge as brian was. yeah it was fun, as i avoided all the nice shots in this thread. lol - just kidding.

good to see you in. this will enhance the challenge. now i know i have to try harder than hard to have the slightest chance :D

Hey guys.... I am thinking about making some kind of walker Vehicle, with Six legs... I might give it wheels instead of feet... I want to at least make it seam realistic, like it could actually work, unlike my last design in the last competition...This design WILL NOT be based off of any kind of Starwars Vehicle or my last walker design, but how it moves (if it uses feet) will be taken off of the design of the AT TE, That is just how it walks, if I give it wheels, then the leg design, will be for Suspension... I think this will be made to walk in the snow, but maybe to walk on the Mars surface. I want to make it for one to two people, with a full cockpit design... So.... What do you think? Sorry can't start a sketch when I am at work.... Let me know what you think! THanks alot,
Brian

KICKS holy booty man!

BabyDuck 05-06-2003 06:45 PM

nice render - how did you do that. - nah, just kidding

but nice wheel :) - maybe the ones on the outside a bit more spiky?

i am still sketching out my hands still - hope to get that into maya soon - your hands are almost done (the wheels) :p

THanks for the encouragement guys!! Hey check this out... What do you think?? Baby duck, what do you think should be more spiky? Thanks!
Brian

BTW I took out the center faces and extruded the sides in... WHat do you think?

Vectorman 05-06-2003 07:14 PM

you have this wicked cool style brian, its soo inspiring

BabyDuck 05-06-2003 07:41 PM

brian, i meant - where the wheel hits the road, to have nails coming out. the profile you have now might be good enough for snow - but not for ice. and even with snow it might fill up fast - but with spikes it might be better on snow and ice.

brian_ellebracht 05-06-2003 07:48 PM

:D point made, THanks for the sugstion, I will make the changes now. :)
Brian
THis is going to be fun-

Blinn 05-06-2003 07:49 PM

wow
very inspiring.

great work so far brian.

doodle 05-06-2003 07:51 PM

Why dont you have the wheel as a foot also. It could be connected to the leg on the inside, but turn 90 degrees so it's flat.

Just an idea.

Witchy 05-06-2003 07:59 PM

Very nice, good details.

EagleKing 05-06-2003 08:05 PM

yea...looooot of details.
and all looking great...

Thanks alot for all of your replies. :bgreen: here are the spiked wheels! What do you think?

brian_ellebracht 05-06-2003 08:21 PM

Hmm.. I was thinking I could do something like that z1mmnd14, but then you wouldn't see the detail I have been working on, so if anything, it could allways just lock up the wheels, and still use them as "feet" because they are now spiked, and would provide enough friction... I think.. Who knows... Well see.... Haven't decided if I want to go with the more fluid or blockey furture look.. Know what I mean?
B

[icarus_uk] 05-06-2003 09:25 PM

Go with both. Blocky with rounded corners. Completely hard edges might look a bit odd, but smoothing might give it a futuristic "blocky" look and still look sleek.

Emo 05-06-2003 09:37 PM

all I can say is

and that's just the wheel!!!! omg

I've started on the competition, but I dont want to post a thread and then never finish it... I want to make sure I'll be able to do at least something... :D

Hey guys :) I was getting frustrating trying to figure out a design for the legs... Grrrr.... So, I started working on the cockpit... What do you think? Thanks for all of your comments!
Brian

ragecgi 05-06-2003 10:01 PM

Love it!

..Subd's?

brian_ellebracht 05-06-2003 10:02 PM

Thanks again for all of your sugestions!!

brian_ellebracht 05-06-2003 10:06 PM

you got it, sub d's....

Sad news!!! I lost my cockpit... Grrr... I went to rerender it, and it locked up! Had to close it, hate it when that happens... And I didn't save it. :banghead: :banghead: Oh well...Now I have to take break for a few hours or my head will explode. I will start on it again later on tonight. (I still have the wheel) :) Thanks,
Brian

brian_ellebracht 05-06-2003 10:13 PM

ok, on my way home to work on it more... Hopefully I will have a big update for you in the morning. THanks,
Brian

ragecgi 05-06-2003 10:58 PM

See ya then m8!

Ultragames 06-06-2003 06:27 AM

HOLLY ****! (No worries, I censor myself)

All that amazing work just for a freaking wheel! Im screwed. I love to see you designs, and watch them grow, but Im not seeing this this as fair with you in it. hehe. Its like having a Directing contest between that one guy that sleeps in a shopping cart, and the brothers of the Matrix.

I nominate Brian for Modage!

brian_ellebracht 06-06-2003 01:26 PM

Could really use your help guys... as far as a design point of view... I am at a point where I need to decide if I am going to use the leg idea.... or if I am going to make it more like a really heavily armored Vehicle.... What do you think?

Pod Design with legs

or

Modified and heavily armored Vehicle?

Thanks alot!
Brian

mtmckinley 06-06-2003 01:32 PM

what environment is is for? Or did I miss that?

brian_ellebracht 06-06-2003 01:42 PM

Icy enviorment. :0

[icarus_uk] 06-06-2003 02:18 PM

Seems like a poor idea, from a design point of view, to give it wheels on the ends of legs, it makes the wheels redundant and a stability risk. Since youve already got a wheel, I'd say a "Modified and heavily armored Vehicle".
