Here's a photo of my new case.

I've also decided to drop the xaser mouse and replace it with a Logitech MX 700 but keep the keyboard.

that thing is HUUUUUUGE also, although a memory stick would be fast... would it actually boot? i mean, it probably wouldnt recognise it. |
Very spiffy :)

ckyuk: Man, that case is huge! It looks like the kid can fit inside of it! LOL. It looks pretty neat though. |
I know you can have other mice for the mac. I was just stating, that the standard ones, the ones i am forced to use at school, annoying me. I keep trying to use the right click, forgetting its not there. lol.

1 WD Raptor (36GB) 1 WD 200GB 7200K 1 SATA controller (for the Raptor) and a power converter for the Raptor as well... a whapping $360 right there :banghead:  :D -Emo |
Hey man, good choice with the MX 700. Was it me that brought that to your attention?

Yeah, the MX700 rocks. I have 2 of them: one on my Dell tower and one on my Apple Powerbook. The best of both worlds. ;)
|
Have you had any issues with the paint wearing off the mouse at the rear? I have had my MX700 about 2 months having bought it after seeing it reviewed on Tom's Hardware, and it looks like I have attacked it with sandpaper. I have sent a slightly rude email to Logitech (none of my other mice have done this after years of useful use) but wondered if anyone else has had the same problem?

hey guys, I think that this will be my next computer...
http://www.alienware.com/system_pages/area-51m.aspx I want to get the extreme I would love to go out in the park and work on my 3d stuff!! Man, I could do so much more, when I am traveling and all kinds of stuff. Right now I have a dual 2.2 ghz athlon with about 1 gb of ram and only one internal 40 gb hardrive !!! kinda sucks, but I have a large external hardrive where I store all of my files so I can easily go from one computer to the next. It seams to me my computer is allready getting old :( need something new, and I think that the labtop would greatly inhance my ability to work on my stuff... oh well, bad thing about Athlons, is that they can easily overheat, very annoying. Talk to ya later, Brian |
Maybe consider getting something with a Quadro FX go! in it... the hardware rendering is so worth it! the video card even in the extreme is just intel integrated graphics, which means just an okay GPU that uses your system's ram, not video ram... much slower... :banghead:
|
Yeah i've been looking at the new Quadro FX 3000 but £1,619 isn't cheap so i might get the Quadro4 980 XGL at £440
|
mine is still as good as the day i pulled it from the box...
mmmhhhh... witchy... sure you´re not an alien?:D (corrosive sweat... interesting defensive measures... biochemistry based on silicones then...?:D) |
ok, so you getting dual chips right? What heat sink and fan you using? I would suggest not using the stock heatsinks. If you want the best HS / fan combo, let me know.

Thanks though, I shall send a ruder email now! |

a little late but, for others that are willing to spend a little fortune on cases + fans +dissipators, i know that on a local store theyve got some freezer cases, like the ones they use on some research institutions... They claim you can have a P2.8 overclocked to 3.8 with those things (in fact theyll prepare one of those for you if you are willing to spend 500€ on the case... (but then you save on all those dissipators and fans) I hadnt seen em on internet but maybe you would be interested on asking for them on your local dealer...
|
Just a side note. Dont worry about liquid cooling. You wont need it for what your doing. Cky, check your PMs.
|
I did look at liquid cooling but it seemed abit over the top although it would let me overclock the CPUs a bit.
|
just to be sure... im not talking about liquid cooling... im talking about a big insulated tower case with a thermal exchange unit like the one on your freezer on the superior quarter that will put the interior of the case subzero...
(cky do you want to tell me how much did you spent on heatsinks+fans+case?, to compare solutions prices?) |
the case was £105 (has 7 fans) and heatsinks and extra fans come to £78
|
so it was kinda 300/350€... id like to test if their claims about overcloking are true... imagine two 3.8ghz processors at the price of two 2.8...
|
who did them i'll have a look?
|
now i searched again it did showed a case that has a similar system but liquidcooled to -30ºC system...
theres a link for a test on toms hardware: http://www4.tomshardware.com/howto/20030224/ the one i saw was more kinda this, it refigerated all the case: http://www.asetek.com/nyhederPro/vis...9&DatabaseID=2 http://www.asetek.com/default.asp?sh...n=2&menuID=309 but on big tower insted of server size the shop where i saw it is called batchpc (www.batch-pc.com) im afraid they only have the site in spanish... so summarizing... the link for the liquidcooled case they sell on internet (i didnt saw the full box cooled) with a system called vapochill is http://over.batch-pc.com/productos/cajas.asp the "Caja Semitorre Vapochill SE S478" it a lil expensiver and also it doesnt comes with "power source?" also theres other one, bigger badder and cooler called "Caja Vapochill Xtreme Edition" A link on a test in spanish http://www.flytech.es/Vapochill-Refr.../vapochill.htm (i should be sleeping to study tomorrow so i wont surf more, letme know if you find the tower sized full case refrigerated one, anyways next week i have to go near them so ill ask which one was the exact model he showed me) |
Just a quick question.. since this thread is not about Hardware ... do you guys think the GeForce 5900 Ultra is gonna be ok for my PC??
-Emo |
