In the image you see one part (yellow articulation) of the model has disappeared

you can see I did not mess with its visibility.

and one more hint - form a closer view it DOES show...

thanks

no salary available for the wise Nurbs detective today...

the missing part is a copy of the one whic h is close to the lamp

3djoe 18-12-2003 01:25 AM

that is a good one.

also can you try to duplicate the visable one and move it to the side and see if it will render

3djoe 18-12-2003 01:41 AM

how are you duplicating? are you duplicating a group or individual objects?

nirsul 18-12-2003 01:48 AM

duplication is good as you can see a closeup does show both -
I never touched any distance related parameters but maybe it has something to do with it...

3djoe 18-12-2003 02:03 AM

yes it has to do with the distance from camera that makes it visable or not.

3djoe 18-12-2003 02:18 AM

select that one object and save it out as a .mb file and let me see if I can import it and get the same problem. If I do we know it is with that object and I can check all the setting with you.

nirsul

Did you find the problem yet as I am curious to the error also.

nirsul 18-12-2003 11:27 PM

sorry
i was working on another model so did not have the time to test it thoroughly but I did test it on version 5 ad got the same result.

I got your answer for the ghost nurbs. Select them then 'export selection. IGES format' reimport them and they should be fine. I remember having this happen to a patch model of mine once back when i was using 4.0. Nurbs seems to have some attributes that cannot be erased easily. It appears that exporting them to IGES strips them of everything but there vertice location data and curve construction data and regenerates the Nurbs surface on import. I dont know what else the surface could have that it ditches but this seems to take it back to square one and clears 90% of all anomallies.
