What's your real name?

I just got this idea for a thread from the second page of the Saddam Hussein Captured page... We all actually have names! like, actual ones! so we could write them down, eh? and then they would be written. So I was thinking that maybe everyone could say their name, and maybe a little back story on why they were named that and what crazy and groovy events led up to their naming!

I'll kick it off:

Me name's Ben Karon. My mom wanted to name me Sal but my dad was like, "No." some other names they tried were (I am not kidding) Cecil, Cyril, Irah, and Harvey. (thank god they settled on 'Ben'!)

Ben means 'beloved of the gods' which is just plain wrong, because if there is a god he/she is prolly real pissed at me for not believing in him all this time!

Oh, and yeah. This is how my name would look if you were to write it in supa-crappy MS paint.

Kurt 01-01-2004 04:22 AM

UMMM my Name IS Kurt=) <------

Emo 01-01-2004 04:23 AM

umm.... I'm not really sure what my name means but my real name is Emil .... not a popular name and maybe that's why I like it but i hate it when people think it's Emily and the y is cut off... lol

-Emo (< that's a nickname off Emil )

dannyngan 01-01-2004 04:39 AM

btw: Danny. How is your last name pronounced? I keep saying it like Ing-an. Or is the first N silent, like Gan?

ragecgi 01-01-2004 06:37 AM

My name is Israel, but I hail from York, Pennsylvania USA.

I was born on a US Air Force Base in Madrid Spain.

My bone marrow was replaced with Adamantium when I was 18.

When I get mad, I burst out in a fit of.... well... Rage. hehe...

3 of the above are true:)

My last name is pronounced "Non". The G is just there to confuse everyone. :)

Well... Björn Fredriksson :)
Björn = bear in Swedish.

mtmckinley 01-01-2004 04:55 PM

Michael J. McKinley, but you can call me Mike.

Heh, I'm lucky with the name thing as all the previous male McKinley's got stuck with what is considered the ancestral name for all of us or something which is "Fremonce." My older brother has it for a middle name, as does my father and grandfather. My dad hated it though, and finally broke the mold with me and my younger brother and gave us fairly normal names.

:D

Sil-Valeor 01-01-2004 05:15 PM

Em, Zoran Petrovic, but they call me zoki or zorro.
Zoran is pretty popular name where I live. I can't remember what was the name mom wanted for me, but fathet wanted zoran.

howardporter 01-01-2004 05:22 PM

PonysGirl 01-01-2004 08:42 PM

My real name is Tamara (Tam for short). The name is russian but I am not. My moms favorite babysitter for my older brothers was named Tamara and she loved the name. So now it is mine as well. I beleive the name is derived from the hebrew name Tamar which means palm tree, the symbol for fertility. (don't go there guys LOL)

Correct. :)

Mt. McKinley was named after the American President William McKinley who was in office around 1900. He's a relative and I thought it'd be a cool moniker. :)

kbrown 01-01-2004 11:00 PM

But then again, there's North America and South America.

Well, here in US people use "America" to refer to United Stated Of America, but that's just it, it's "of" America. America is the name of the continent in which USA is located. So normaly when I say America I am talking about the continet, but because I know Americans could get it wrong I usually specify which I'm talking about.
In this case I am living in "America" the country. but my ancestors moved from the continent known as Europe to the continent known as America, but none of them went originaly to the country (USA).

See, it's not that complicated :p

NitroLiq 02-01-2004 02:35 AM

Pete.

twisteddragon33 02-01-2004 06:16 AM

Mario Dominic Celli III

Italian... obviously.

Origin= I bilieve the name means several things depending on Area, ive heard it mean Sailor, Soldier, Special as some deffinitions among others.

Italian tradition states you should name your child after your father. But my grandfather didnt want to name his child Guliano after his father, he didnt want his kid growing up in buffalo with the name "Julie". So he names his child, my father after himself. Mario jr was born. But to apeas our reletives in italy when i was due, my father names me mario after his father(couldnt name me Guliano because it would upset the balance or something). So there for im mario the 3rd.

I havent heard from my italian relevitves if i should name my first born male mario or guliano... but i guess its upto me.

Um... yeah
