Ponysgirl: You can make everything sound like god then :). My initials are Vincent A O, so that's Vincent = victory, the conquerer, and A-O is alpha-omega. So I must be the eternal all-powerful god of war :) :D. runs outside and throws lightning bolts at random people

strarup 21-01-2004 09:36 AM

Hi,

my name is Alex Vilhelm Ulberg Strarup... before I used my lastname as my nickname, I used my initials "avus"...

but got a bit tired of people mixing up the "V" with an "N", I also discovered that in Latin "avus" is meaning "granddad"... :)

regards

Strarup

Lespaul84 22-01-2004 09:31 PM

My real name is Kristjan Stuart

MixX 04-03-2005 12:05 PM

Mikkel Pahlke Fausing. Mikkel is a Danish variant on Michael, St. Michael or something I think but not really sure hehe.

Pahlke is the name some Polish ancestors of mine carried with them to Denmark when they fled the Nazis (they are not jewish but I believe they somehow helped jews or upset the nazis in some other way, I was born too late to talk to any of them so the story is a bit uncertain). My mother took up the Pahlke name again which had missed a generation or two.

Fausing is my fathers name, which that part of the family has had for a loooong time. Theres a town in another part of the country that has the same name, and my great-great grandfather (or perhaps a few more greats, not sure really) either got his name from the town, or gave the town his name - noone seems to be sure anymore.

Quite a long story for a name now that I look at it :).

Anise 04-03-2005 01:38 PM

I never liked my original name, so as soon as I legally could... I changed it! :) To Catherine. My life drawing class right now has seven students and four Catherines... it does get confusing... My last name, Danielson, is Danish. It was originally, I mean. At least that's what Grandma always said. My middle name was changed at the same time, to Valeria. Yes, that came from Conan the Barbarian.

ckyuk 04-03-2005 01:41 PM

William Marshall

"William" comes from the Germanic name "Wilhelm", which was composed of the elements wil "will, desire" and helm "helmet, protection". This is supposed to mean "determined protector".

Haven't got a clue what if any meaning there is to Marshall. All i know about this is it can be traced back to a sept of the Keith Clan.

Count Matt Daniel Wettstein :D

Beleive it or not :P.

I don't exactly live like a count, but the title comes from past generations.

caligraphics 04-03-2005 11:02 PM

Carsten Lind.

Carsten is a nickname for Kristen, which means christian. Kristen became Carsten someway back in the good old days when the Vikings beat the heck out of the britts.

Lind means smooth or thin as in a thin soft smooth liquid. Somewhere in Denmark theres a town called Lind, and like ten years ago I went there.
It was quite funny to see how many stores I actually own : Lind pharmacy, Lind Bank, Lind Gas station, Lind townhall.. hmm I wonder how come my bank account don't reflect that !? :P

Sarrah: I just wanna say that there's absolutely nothing wrong with the name Rebecca !! My 2 year old daughter is called that ..
And by the way, a funny thing is that I am telling her stories about a little girl called Sarrah who has a monkey !

Robert Binnie

Binnie, originally from Scotland, with the same roots as Bean (and others) which is why the Binnie's have their tartan on the moon - al la Alan Bean.

Also links with McBain - so watch it!

Say my name!!!!!!

blomkaal 06-03-2005 09:19 AM

First name: Jens Henrik
Last name: Skuldbøl

My first name is from my parents' fathers, my mother's was named Jens, and my father's Henrik, which are both pretty common danish names, but apparently form a paradox when combined. I always have to repeat it a couple of hundred times to people. It might be because there are lots of different danish names that consists of two common names being combined... Don't know anything about my last name though...

Nick: Blomkaal

Blomkål, the danish word for cauliflower, the 'å' is a newer (don't know when it started) danish (I think it's used in a few other nordic countries) letter, which replaced 'aa', hence: blomkål = blomkaal :)

murph 06-03-2005 10:16 PM

Leigh Murphy

had some twisted parents and they gave me a girly name,

They "murph" part is, (of course) my second name shortened by my "Drill" instructor at basic training, neally ten years ago, and it stuck..

1. Does the J stand for "Jay"?
2. Do people get confused with the J and mistake it for a T?
3. Have you ever made peanut butter into something indistinguishable from yams?

Christopher= Latin for Bearing Christ
Sean= Irish for John
Shaber= Old German for trickster.

I'm not sure where the Christopher came from but Sean comes from my mom being a huge James Bond fan, need I expand on it?

my full name is Michael Conrad Deschamps Paixao

im Portuguese and proud of it :) my mum immigrated to canada when she was sixteen, me and my bro were first born in Canada (Woot)

crappy part.. Paixao... translation = passion (thats the fun part ;)) crappy = im a prince, downside, because of what happened 100 years ago, or a little less.. the women did not get the inheritance, so Im screwed out of half the south of portugal right not... and lotsa money... arg... atleast im still a prince!! (friends say royal pain in the ***)

as for Conrad, no clue!

Deschamps. my father is french, deschamps translates to "The fields" so far Im passionate in the fields?

Michael, love the meaning, my girlfriend often jokes... "Michael = one who is like god"
so I guess god is artisitic, lazy, and enjoyed eating a lot? hahaha

so if im alone in a field with a girl *evil grin* ill stop this idea here...

WOOT I got accepted into college for 3D animation yay!
