i would go for the gainward 6800....it will kick ass...with more than double the rendering pipelines and shading power...and full gelato compatibility, it's future proof...and probably...

looks like a ram bottleneck or HD bottleneck...if you have huge image planes specially with modified alpha gains it will suck your system lifeless....give some specs of your system to figure it out

I've had horrible experiences with radeons....please don't get one...get a geforce fx 5900 xt and sofquadro it to a quadro fx 3000...it will outperform a radeon 9800 pro in every single test.,...even...

you can softquadro a geforce for a fraction of the price...and it will work 90% as well as a quadro...

Geforce FX 5900 XT modded to Quadro FX 3000....works like a dream and out performs my previous Radeon 9800 pro that I had modded to a Fire GL X2....jesus that thing was buggy ... it would crash maya...
