looking good so far.

maybe u can change the colors of your own explosion a little bit in the way the footage explosion looks like. and the explosion dust could be a little lighter.

then build a curve with the same number of points like the original curve, select both and snap now in the compnonent mode the new cuve points to the old.

just move to the component tool, select the old curve and take your create cv tool, hit 'v' and then it should snap to the old curve points... and there u have your new curve.

u could group the iris part in a new group, the new group will have the center in the origin. after this u can easy dublicate (rotate) this one part and build the complete iris.
