as an aside, all nurbs modelers change the smooth surfaces you see into polys to render, even in the viewports when you turn shading on

I applaud this tutorial, and the knowledge here; but I have to say, if you have access to Rhino, use that instead. Sooooo much simpler and more intuitive.
