I think you need to tweak the settings, no way should it take 60 hours and still have visible noise.

On another note, the scene is very good. Nice living room :p

Very very few people do when they first start out. It's all practice, practice, practice. It will take time for you to develop the skills but they will come.

Well, the first thing to do is go look at a guillotine, see if you can find some good pictures or blueprints, and using those as your references start to model it.

They would be pre-rendered much like a CGI film. You make all the scenes and animation, shove it into a render farm for a horrendously large ammount of time to get amazing graphics, piece each frame...

Well, decided last night to redo the low poly man tut after failing to finish it last time... last time being last Christmas when I got it.
