This is a good point! But I think sometimes it can be nice to get a few encouraging compliments since it helps motivate and drive you on, and make you feel you are perhaps doing something right. I think what I mean is that WIP is great for critiques but it's also good to show off if you feel you have something to show off... or is that the Finished Work section
I'm talking more about people that throw something together where you can see there was no thought or effort or research involved and it looks that way but yet expect compliments (which unavoidably, people do). I just think people need to spend a bit more time in self-evaluation before bringing it to the WIP section. It may sound a bit harsh but that's just my personal feeling. If they do bring it to the WIP forum, they should have some specific questions in mind if they're having problems taking the next step. I just think that would make things more productive.
You're right...finished projects would be the place to show off and get your final critiques before being added to the gallery.
