yeah i like the tutorials here better than any books I've looked at. I started modeling again and tutorials here rules. Books make you ZzzzZZzz, and dont really show you how to model, just how to use the tools. But I just bought The Complete Reference Maya 6 book for class. The author of this book was a teacher of mine about a year and a half ago and I thought he was really good. Its the recommended book for my next semester class.
