I think it's a wise thing that you didn't go into too much detail just yet. The first model I ever made (or rather tried to make) was a fully detailed TIE-fighter from Star Wars... and that was way out of my league - and still is!

Try not to get overenthusiastic with reflectivity and shininess - it tends to look a bit "noobish" imho - although that's probably okay as this is your first model .

Keep it up! I'm still struggling with the basics myself .
