hey, had a similar error message. Petrol helped me with my prob. I use ATI Radeon Pro 9800, the new drivers don't work with Maya. I had to install older drivers. If u have ATI try searching for these drivers:

wxp-w2k-catalyst-8-121-050322a-022141c.exe
