thanks arran, I agree that knowing the inner workings should help understand the overall structure better. Here's hoping it starts looking more polar bear like soon.
I'll find some reference material one day and make sure its available on the web for other people to use.

Just been filling the head mass out a bit more tonight and have blocked in some basic ears ready to be shaped.
