Hi Sol,

I've been modeling for about 6 years but new to Maya. I started by getting a few books, and trying some tuts here . I tended to learn the basics from both. Learning the most used tools and how to work them. Alot of trial and error, and it will slowly come to you. I recommend a Maya book for beginners, to learn the basics in modeling, then move to an intermediate book to move forward. But, I can tell you this.. you'll always have questions and Maya being such a huge app, you will need to , from time to time, need help. ( I seem to need quite a bit!! :p ) So ask questions.
Good luck! ( to us both!user added image )
