I'd suggest going in and adjusting the proportions at this point (or before in your next projects) It's one thing to make things look good by themselves, but they really need to mesh together correctly to give you something desirable. This can become difficult when you have really refined bits. Also, use more refs, there's no shame in using them - in fact it's usually the smart thing to do. Anyway, at this point it shouldn't be too hard to adjust the anatomy and proportions, so I'd do it soon.
