It looks like a face that is running from that top edge to the adjacent lower edge. Just delete it. You might have some other weird geometry, so it would be best to give it a thorough lookover in wireframe mode. If you delete too much you can always fill in holes in a number of ways (fill hole, append to polygon, bridge etc.) So those are useful skills to have.
