So I made a primal object and inserted edge loops onto it. I was able to adjust the size of the edge loops by selecting the vertexes and then using the scale tool to move them. Then when I tried to move to the side view of the object I'd select the vertexes but when I attempted to scale inside the boxes a smaller grey box would appear and I couldn't move them.
